I've been offered an ablation, to stop my infrequent AF. The cardiologist didn't say what the ablation would do, where in the heart it would be done, the risks involved, or anything else. I understand from reading it would be, to kill off a part of the heart that a signal travels down to, from the upper right chamber to the lower left. I know from many years ago I was told I had two of these "strings" instead of one. I refused the ablation on the grounds that I didn't know which one of these strings was needed. I had no argument or conversation to try and convince me.

Hello,

Thank you for your response.

An ablation is a long term, effective procedure with a high success rate. We have a variety of information on our webpage that you may find helpful to explore: heartrhythmalliance.org/aa/...

If you have any concerns or questions about potentially having an ablation, please do reach out to your doctor/cardiology team as they will be able to advise you personally and ensure the most appropriate plan is put in place for you. It is also important for you to feel as comfortable as possible with any decisions made.

If you would like any support, advice or further information, please do not hesitate to contact our dedicated Patient Services Team via Patient Helpline or via email, please visit: heartrhythmalliance.org/aa/...

We are always here if you need us.

Kind regards,

Have undergone 3 ablations. For slow afib that began in childhood. Energy drain symptoms from slow afib didn't become strong til late 60's. Each ablation provided temporary return of consistent energy. However, what was more familiar to heart was the afib. Last September received pace-maker implant. No more ablations!
