AV node ablation and pacing

Hi. Has anyone out there had an AV node ablation and pacemaker fitted. If so, what was your experience. I am under pressure to make a decision ASAP (had four unsuccessful ablations, the last one ending in emergency surgery) any comments would be appreciated.

Not personally had an ablation but an older friend had three then had pacemaker fitted that was about fifteen years ago he’s absolutely fine. I had my pacemaker fitted in April this year for different reasons and I’m absolutely fine with it too. Just getting your head round it was the worst bit for me. Thanks for that. I really don’t want pacemaker. Did your friend have AV node ablated with the pacemaker. Is he now pacemaker dependent? If so does he still feel the arrhythmia, despite the pacemaker. I know the A/fib and flutter will continue in the atrium but message won’t get to AV node any longer, but the thought of still having the chaos going on in my chest distresses me. I have read from others that they are aware of arrhythmias still and also when the pacemaker is kicking in. I seem to be in permanent now so the pacemaker will be working full time. The whole thing freaks me out!!! Xx
