AV (atrioventricular) node ablation

I am 81 and a year ago I had an AV node ablation. I realise this is probably a silly question but I wonder if anyone can help me.

Has anyone had an AV Node ablation where the AV node is ablated and the pacemaker is then incharge of keeping the heart pumping? Any pros and cons about this procedure?

I have been offered a AV node ablation, is it extremely painful, love to hear your experiences.

Has anyone had a pacemaker and av node ablation in their 50/early 60’s? If so, has it been successful?

I saw my cardiology consultant last week and he's put me on the wait list for an AV Node ablation and changed my meds to digoxen + 5mg bisolprolol twice daily.

Or is exercising to any great degree after AV Node ablation just not possible. Thanks to all in advance.

I had a similar problem with bisoprolil until was stopped after av node ablation Love to hear if anyone has suffered terrible side effects with these medications

Hi Fellow members of this supportive forum, Monday, September 16, I’m getting a dual lead pacemaker and AV node ablation. I believe in the power of positivity and optimism. Could some of you who have had success with this procedure tell me about your good results?

EP says happy to do an RF line by line ablation to try and fix this or go straight to AV node ablation - has anyone else been faced with this choice ?

I have had a pacemaker implant, recently and waiting for an AV Node Ablation, for which I am feeling extremely anxious about. Has anyone out there had this procedure? I would like to know their experiences- hope fully positive ones. Thank you

I have had a pacemaker for 4 years and av node ablation 2 years ago. This week at my checkup they turned off the top lead as it hadn't been used for 2 years (since the ablation) & was just watching but using up battery.

But to be quite honest, I still don't understand why CDreamer never got the AV node ablation. If AF was/is still there, how did the pacemaker override the chaotic signals coming through the AV node to the ventricles, without an AV node ablation?

If so, does AV node ablation help to lose the extra weight? Jodie

HiOn 1.25mg bisoprolol for heart failure also have LVSD, AFib and had AV node ablation and pacemaker.

Does anyone know if you can still be in AF after AV node ablation and pacemaker dependent?

Now he is saying my only option is a AV Node ablation which I am reluctant to have because of relying on your pacemaker and there is no guarantee it will work.Is there anyone who has had this procedure done and give some feed back.

So for now, I am back on diltiazem until I can be scheduled for a NEAR AV node ablation (at the triangle of Koch, which is anatomically significant because the atrioventricular node is located at the apex of the triangle) later this year.

I'm on the wait list for an AV node ablation so not having a pacemaker isn't an option. Is your pacemaker comfortable, anyone else get discomfort?

There are other readings too that are not normal, but GP believes the pacemaker ( Feb 2024) was enough for body to cope with and this AV Node ablation has been too much too soon - I juggle a few other health issues alongside which added to the mix.
