Severe constipation in children

My sons suffers with severe constipation, he has done since we was born. For the last 2 months we have been up to A&E due to complications such as hallucinations, he stopped eating and a lump was progressing in his abdomen. No investigative work has been undertaken as it appears to be worsening. Referrals had been halted and only started moving forward once I pushed for appointments after waiting a month. How long should we have to wait for investigative work into this? Enemas aren't emptying his bowel, nothing seems to work
