I am male and 54 years old. I eat a very healthy vegetarian diet including plenty of calcium Rich diary foods. I have had three separate blood tests weeks apart and all three have come back with low calcium in the blood. I’m waiting to see a consultant but I don’t understand it. Does anyone have any ideas?

Low calcium levels in the blood.
Hello Edwen_ here's a link about low calcium in the blood please see:
nhs.uk/conditions/hypoparat...
Obviously you need to see a consultant but one thing that I do know is caffeine strips calcium from our bodies so those with osteopenia or osteoporosis are advised to limit their caffeine intake.
Good luck with this as it must be worrying and at least you eat a healthy diet and do let us know how you get on.
Thanks Jerry much appreciated
I was going to say has your parathyroid been checked but it was in the link. The parathyroid is different to the thyroid and testing will reveal if this is the cause. If you post on the bone health forum you will probably get replies, or can find, which tests would be appropriate with optimum levels - just as a check that you are being offered everything.
Thanks AnnieW55 that is very useful I will give it a try.
