How to increase calcium, and immunity power

Hi,

My mother is suffering from calcium deficiency, she is taking xtracal tab, and she has very poor resistance power and vitamin D also less, please suggest what food she has to take, she is vegetarian.

Hello Vijayrm,

Calcium is absorbed very poorly from tabs. I think choral calcium is the best of supplements but what is important to take along side is D3,K2 vitamines. If your mother is low on D3 she should take 5000-10000iu daily. Leafy green vegetables have a lot of calcium. Hope this of help😊

Hi Vijayrm, sesame seeds are a good source of calcium and they also contain magnesium, so are good for our bones, you can also buy Tahini which's a sesame seed butter made with sesame seeds and olive oil, its really nice on toast too...

Foods rich in in calcium include milk,yogurt,cheese,okra,spinach,other green leafy veg. Etc. Take Vit D3 supplements.

Is your mother's calcium deficiency causing osteopenia or osteoporisis?

Can you get kefir? Fermented foods like this, & certain cheeses, contain vitamin K2 which is essential for directing calcium to the bones. Magnesium is also essential along with vitamin D3 cholecalciferol. Chelated magnesium is the most bioavailable form, & is best taken at bedtime on an empty stomach.
