My son was recently diagnosed with a possible lactose intolerance. I am open to suggestions for snacks and help with this since he has to avoid most dairy products that contain lactose. Please let me know what brands that are lactose free that some of you have tried and actually like. For example, a brand of cheese, yogurt and even milk. Thanks so much

Help - Lactose Free info needed
Hi distracted1, you say your son possibly has lactose intolerance well there is a simple hydrogen breath test for lactose intolerance. I'm not lactose intolerant but my body prefers many dairy free alternatives.
I think it's tough for children having a food intolerance so I'm sorry for your son, But fortunately there are lots of dairy alternatives like coconut oat soy almond milks and cheeses.
We have a vegan Topic section on here for all things plant based, including snacks and there's VFL with Topics on milk cheese ice cream and snacks etc:

Some dairy alternatives taste better in my opinion and my favourite dairy free milk is coconut milk and my favourite ice cream is plant based:
Here's some links about dairy alternatives:

Good luck with this and at least with a food intolerance the answer is avoidance and not medication. And if you want more specific advice guidance then you just ask.

Thank you so much. Its a start! I will look into those sites. I appreciate it. I also just followed the Vegan topic too. Hoping to gain some insight to figure this all out. My son goes to a gastro doctor soon and I believe they will do that breath test you are referring to. Right now we are working off of blood testing.
I quite like biolife cheese - it's got a decent cheesy flavour, and is made from coconut.
I like almond milk and coconut milk, but would advise you not to add it to tea! It separates and creates a curdled looking mess.
My work colleague is intolerant, and she said some dairy items are ok, because the lactose content is naturally quite low (I'm sure double cream was one, but you'd need to read into it).
Good luck
Hi distracted1
I hope you find some products that your son likes and can tolerate. Good luck.

You could look for yoghurts labelled as lactose-free, or low lactose products like hard cheeses (cheddar) and heavy or double cream.
Look for dairy items where the lactose content is less than 0.5 grams per 100 grams. Lactose will be labelled as “sugar”, as it is a natural milk sugar.
Hi, I have just discovered a good milk alternative. I bought it in Morrisons. Brand is KOKO tastes like skimmed milk, its lactose free
Hope your son is getting on all right. Tesco stock lactose free milk under their own brand or ARLA, they also do lactose free butter. Their 'free from' gluten free range also includes some products that are dairy free as well, e.g. cakes, biscuits, etc.
