Mine is count my blessings. To which there are many. So that soon knocks out any negative mood I might get.

Good stuff enjoy x

Hi leaneski, we are all our own worst enemies when it comes to bad habits and you want to realise that eating junk food for pleasure will in reality make you unhappy and keep you unhappy.

As for exercise just enjoying nature and fresh air is very beneficial and positive for us and it's literally taking the first step. Its about changing our relationship with food and here's a previous post on that:

So good luck and try to remind yourself that you are worth making an effort for...😊

Hi leanneski

I'm glad to hear you're going to be having a holiday next week, as I feel sure you'll be able to use that time to re-focus and nurture yourself (hopefully!). I'm sorry to hear you've been struggling this past couple of weeks to stick to your healthy eating and exercise. Motivation is a very personal thing, and what motivates one person may not motivate another - so finding what works best for you is probably the key.

I can see you've already planned some long walks during your holiday - and hopefully that will give you some good reflection time too - to think about changes you want to make etc.

Wishing you the best with it - and cheering you on.

Zest :-) xx

I listen to a lot of podcasts whilst I’m out walking or exercising in the gym, predominantly health and wellness. It helps me focus on what’s important. I find if I’m listening to something especially interesting I don’t want to stop.

If this rings a bell 🔔 , leanneski, it ( healthunlocked.com/healthye... , healthunlocked.com/healthye... ) might help? 🤔 🤷‍♀️

It’s not necessarily a ‘lack of motivation’ (or lack of ‘will power’), sometimes it’s just our ‘normal/ typical’ biological drives (force) ‘kicking in’ — & beginning to steer our best efforts off course? 🤔 😳 😯

No worries, you can get back on track 🛤 . . . 👍👍

(Sometimes just understanding 🧠 💭 the biological/ physiological/ psychological… forces at play help us get us back on 🛤 — ‘motivated’ — with a few extra tools 🛠 in our toolbox 🧰 to help redirect us back on course? 🤔 )

☺️ 🙏 🍀 🌺 🌞

Thank you! I think a lot of it is related to tiredness and stress so looking forward to having a week off next week x

Eating, sleeping, exercise and stress management are all interrelated. So if anyone one of those is out of whack, it affects how we feel and therefore the choices we make. I got some structure and focus into my healthy living plan by starting Couch to 5k, but in reality just getting out walking briskly for 30 minutes three times a week would probably have been equally effective.

But I found I wanted to measure my improving fitness through my running. So I started taking more interest in doing things that would help me improve. Hence, a progression which includes eating healthier, aiming for 8 hours sleep each night (earlier bedtimes!), eating more fruit and veggies, cutting down alcohol and practising mindfulness. Enjoy your holiday!

Thanks for the advice, I had been doing really well over the last 2months having a bit of a dip, shouldn’t last too long, I definately need to get out walking, always helps me to perk up x

Hi I started this get healthy journey with a slimming diary. I joined MyFitnessPal and noted all what I ate no cheating as you only cheated yourself. Also took photos of myself. It’s a great idea to see how far you come. For instance I took a photo of myself trying to get into a pair of trousers that wouldn’t get past my thighs!! Next photo on but not able to button them up! Then the photo of me wearing them comfortably and not turning purple holding in my breath lol!

Good luck and if you want it you can do it! Remember no change is no change. You cannot keep to your old habits and lifestyle and expect results.

Really good idea with the pics! I’ve been doing some weights, cardio and some yoga so I’ve definately felt the difference in my body, I think it’s a bit of tiredness and stress leading to old lazy eating habits that’s not doing me any favours. I need to stop making excuses and get back on it😁 x

You certainly can! Get a clear mindset have a plan what you’re going to eat and make it a habit and it becomes a lifestyle.

Good luck it always hard in the beginning but you will get there once determination sets in.

I go walking if I’m feeling lacklustre and needing a kick start, and celebrating each new tiny triumph with my diet, these will increase with perseverance and I can see where I’m going target wise. When I reach one personal goal, I set another. I’m so pleased to see each new day and glue that smile on whatever.

Thank you Tudee, I needed a reminder about celebrating the tiny triumphs, the bigger picture/goals can sometimes be a bit overwhelming, especially when lacking a bit of energy 😁

Keep eating out of control until diabetes worsens, obesity effects wearing clothes, legs/ankles swell, medical visits increase and cardiovascular problems are a significant concern then, maybe, you will become “motivated”.

Brutal but fair point! 👍

It was only 3 years ago that to be able to walk without pain was impossible 20 yards and then the pain set in, I would have to stop and rest then try to go a little further before the pain set in.

I was suffering from (diabetes 2) I am a male I was 17 Stone 3 Lbs aged 67 years and the fear of amputation and losing my sight became very real!

I live alone in an upstairs flat I knew if something bad happened I would have to move out of my flat which I love, and my prospects of a good life were going to go down the drain! It frightened me so much I changed my lifestyle, and after doing quite a lot of research I decided to go on a low carb high-fat diet without exercise because of the pain.

Well move on 3 years diabetes has reversed, I am no longer on medication and at the age of 70, I walk along the promenade 1.2 miles every morning without any pain weather permitting breathing in the sea air. If not I have a mini exercise bike so I do 30 minutes on that while watching the telly lol I really hope this story will encourage whoever is feeling a bit down you can beat diabetes! Effort yes, without doubt, rewards wonderful. Good Luck PS 71 now and feeling great.

Great inspiration! Thank you. That’s amazing that you were able to reverse your diabetes and avoid having other health conditions worsen. I just need to get a grip and get on with it! ☺️ 👍
