I’ve lost my appetite, can’t swallow without feeling like throwing up, light headed, dizzy, nauseous and weak. I’ve been to the hospital, my doctor twice they just switch medicines but I don’t feel like it’s working. I’ve been able to eat fruit, veggies and drink protein shakes but my mouth is still dry. Sorry for the details but I just wanna know if anyone experienced something similar and what they did to cop/deal with it.

Loss of appitite
Have you talked with your doctor? Are you allergic to anything food or medication related?
I went to the hospital first and they gave me something to coat my stomach before eating. It didn’t really work so I went to the doctor who upped the dosage. Then when I went back the second time she gave me medicine for my anxiety and said that’s the problem. But since then it’s gotten worse, I have another appointment scheduled this week. I’m not allergic to anything that I know of.
Did the doctor say anything about possible medication side effects?
No she didn’t mention any side effects
Please let the doctor know that you want to know about the side effects after you tell them what you mentioned here. Also, please let us know what you find out.
I definitely will, and thanks for responding ❤️
You’re welcome! Ask anytime you have any questions.😀👍🌈
Told my doctor of my side effects she said it could’ve been from the medicine she prescribed so I stop taking it. She ordering blood work, some heart monitor and a medication for heart burn. Hopefully this helps.
If it is anxiety try sitting and just concentrating on your breathing. Lots on the internet to guide you in this. It seems to calm my mind when I do this. Hope you feel better soon. All the best.
Apologies if I missed any underlying condition you have, or medication that you are taking, but what you describe are also some of the newly identified Corona Virus symptoms. Was this mentioned to you? This would require You to quarantine for 7 days if you live alone and 14 days for any other household members.
Hi Finding Tree,
Nausea is horrible! I had a few weeks feeling like this just before lockdown. I had had a tooth extracted, after putting it off for months (though glad I did it before dentists closed!) & felt really sick for ages after. I survived on tinned tomato soup & peaches as even the smell of anything else made me nauseous. Also had the other symptoms you describe.
I had to have 4 injections before the area was numb as first 2 weren't effective & I am convinced the symptoms were a result of the analgesic & caused a bad fibro flare.
That was a physical stress trigger but I also lose my appetite if psychologically stressed (like when going through PIP process).
I eat whatever I can cope with at the time - usually soft foods - & gradually reintroduce solids. I hate porridge but try to have it (made with water - not milk) for breakfast, disguised with banana, summer fruit mix (buy frozen & defrost/warm) & drizzled with runny honey or maple syrup. Sets me up for the day & provides slow-release energy. You could try couscous with your veg as also soft or make soup & dip some lovely bread in to soften.
Deep breathing & relaxation also helps me. The difficulty swallowing could be caused by anxiety.
Check whether medications should be taken before or after food. Doing it the wrong way round with pain meds also caused similar symptoms for me.
If symptoms continue, tell GP what you have tried yourself & ask for further investigation.
Hope you feel better soon x
Meant to add... I find all the "stomach-coating"/antacid-type treatments cause worse side-effects than the original symptoms. Ibuprofen upsets my stomach. Was encouraged by GP to take it for pain. Complained of stomach problems & medication to counteract it prescribed. Totally dried me up!
Don't see how piling one medication that upsets you on top of another can ever be good.
I look for natural remedies first as I have hypersensitivity to anything my body perceives as toxic.
I’ve been surviving off protein shakes and fruit the only thing my body will take but I’m still hungry. The doc said it could’ve been the Lexapro she prescribed so I’ve stopped taking them. Hopefully that helps.
I have the same issue it lasts for quite a few days or just a few. Your appetite will return I call it "Yo-Yo appetite. If it lasts more that a week get checked out. Meanwhile nilk or tea for vitamins to keep you going.
