I’m Elizabeth and I have been a vegetarian for over40 years - I’m now 65. Having just started the c25k I’m wondering what are the best veggie foods to eat before and after exercising. Thanks.

Hello
Hi Elizabeth,
Welcome to the Healthy Eating forum. I think this article might be of benefit to you - I think it is a Vegetarian based article - I didn't see any non-Vegetarian items in the suggestions. It is entitled 'What to Eat Before a Run':

I hope it is of some help.
Congratulations on completing the C25K - that is brilliant.
I run occasionally - but I have to say that I don't tend to eat anything different before or after a run - I just have my usual meals. I am an omnivore, not a vegetarian.
I hope you enjoy participating in the Healthy eating forum, and enjoy your running.

Hi Elizabeth, welcome to our friendly forum and thank you for introducing yourself. I think that this is a great question and I'd have thought that eggs would be a great source of protein for before and after a run with dates and live yoghurt as a snack or a sweet. Depending on carbs whether you had eggs on toast with tomatoes and mushrooms etc or an omelette to get more protein than carbs. Its also important to stay well hydrated between exercising.
Here's a good link about what to eat before and after exercise the are all vegan but there's some gorgeous looking food on here:

Well done for starting the 25K and I wish you well with it.
Jerry 😊
Thanks so much, Jerry, that’s a really helpful article.
Nothing too heavy within two hours before hard cardio. Fruit is a great option before and after since it digests quickly and packs in a lot of good water.
I run for miles and eat porridge made with water for breakfast, maybe with a tspn of honey or unsweetened peanut butter added. Then I eat my planned meal afterward so i’m Not snacking or eating extra
I like eggs, preferable made into an omelette with veg and salad 😃😋
I enjoy avocado, coconut, I eat nuts daily with fruit and yogurt. I try to avoid too much meat and wheat as they are the two foods which make me feel lethargic and slow my metabolism down
Enjoy your running 👍
