I thought that this article was interesting goo.gl/eSsVpq and is similar to my GGG- grandmother's diet ( which I try to follow) . GGG-Grandmom was quite poor , as most working class people were in her day . She didn't have much money to go around so meals were small. Meat was expensive and there was no refrigeration so she ate meat rarely but whenever she could. She grew some vegetables and swapped them with others who did also , so her main food was plant based. There were no supermarkets at the time so there were almost no commercially processed foods , except for bread which was part of her staple diet. Sugar was expensive so it really was a treat for her to use a small amount every now and then, alcohol and other "treats" like icecream and chocolate were unheard of, except maybe at Christmas?. She basically ate to live - she did not live to eat. Unfortunately she did not live very long as she did not have the ready availability of medical services. :) I don't think she ran anywhere either.

Hi Bazza1234

This article "Eat Like a Kenyan, Run Like a Kenyan' is interesting - I enjoyed reading it, and I very much like how the diet was described - and it's also interesting to hear your Grandmother's experience as well. Thanks for sharing both things.

Getting rid of processed foods (sadly 90% of what is in almost every supermarket right now) from our lives cannot do any harm, and instead do a lot of good. For example, we are in a society where picking of a cheap ready-meal from the cooler for freezer is seen as the norm. They are seductively priced and attractively packaged. Possible Illnesses that follow are never mentioned!
