Has your doctor recommended that you take Vitamin B12?

I forgot to mention omeprozale ruins b12 absorption and I no longer take it.

Hi sam295

There is an article from Healthline about Vitamin B deficiency, and it does mention vitamin B12 in that article, plus some of the natural foods it is found in etc. You could have a look at the article to see if it's of interest to you:

healthline.com/health/sympt...

I haven't got any personal experience of taking it as a supplement as I try to get my vitamins and minerals from real food sources as much as I can.

Thank you Zest for sharing the link on B12, I see that Vegans do not get enough of it because of the food they eat hence someone in my workplace who is Vegan recommended that I take B12.

Alicia :)

I became b12 deficient a little over a year ago. I had low b12 and had trouble swallowing even after surgery to help it. I stopped eating an egg every morning and took omeprozale which makes you not absorb b12. I couldn’t swallow meat and went completely vegan and I never took b12. It was a huge mistake. I got some nerve damage and enlarged red blood cells. My doctor told me nothing but after researching it myself I take 2 b12 tablets every day since there are 2 kinds and no one can say which one will work for you. Methylcobalamin and cyanocobamin. After 6 months feeling much better and no more enlarged red blood cells.

Hi sam295, I've been put on iron by my Dr's and had a bad reaction to them as they act like a laxative for me, I was very anaemic and was given 500mg iron tablets and told to take 2 four times a day. It was due to anaemia that I was diagnosed with coeliac and I didn't take the iron and because I'd eliminated gluten my gut recovered and my iron levels bounced back.

So I'd want to know why you are anaemic and treat the cause rather than the symptom, so iron supplements are a short term med.

And good luck as anaemia really drags your down.

That’s what I do, too funny. I only go for prescriptions I can’t get otc. It seemed like my doctor didn’t care . At one point when I asked for a sleep aid she said that I was getting and 4 hours of sleep should be enough. I was 62 at the time, I no longer go to her. Have a great weekend.

Vegetarians and Vegans are always deficient of vit b12.They need to take 1500 mcg daily. Sublingual form preferably. Oral b12 gets destroyed in the stomach.

Nonvegetarians don't need to take b12 tablets.

I take the sublingual kind and a bcomplex

Does it have b12 - methylcobalamine 1500 mcg? I'm not aware that b complex is available in sl form.

Yes merthyl subliminal the n complex is just a pill I swallow

An answer to a question you didn't ask:

If you DO decide to take it don't be shocked by the color of your urine!

It will be the bright color a child would choose if drawing it with crayons.

It's... startling if not expected.
