Garlic oil question.

Does anyone know much about garlic oil? I recently read somewhere (can't remember where) that it's good for your blood-- it keeps platelets from sticking together, and keeps plaque from sticking to artery walls. Does anyone know if the benefit is from supplements or if there is garlic oil that you can use in cooking? I have not gone online to do any research yet and was hoping to hear from folks who may have experience with it.

Thanks a bunch! 🙂

In many cases it's better to just have the basic food rather than take supplements.

The reason is that supplements typically only have one or to isolated ingredients, which are assumed to be the active and important ones, but its actually the holistic affect of the combinations that makes the difference.

I just cook with lots of garlic :)

Thanks. I love garlic too. We grow it in our garden every year so usually have a good supply. I've never been one to take supplements so am glad to hear your thoughts. 🍴

Can crush 3 to 4 garlic pods & swallow it with a glass of water on empty stomach in the morning.

Alternatively just bite a few pods slightly & take it in the above method described.

As benwl mentioned.. better to take the natural stuff than the processed stuff..

Useful to get the lipid levels normalised & various other health benefits

Hey thanks! I wonder if crushing some and putting it in olive oil for cooking is good too? 🤔 Would it stay good for awhile?

Crush it & leave to oxidise for 20 minutes prior to cooking, for best effect.

Interesting. I'll definitely try it.

It produces more allicin that way, the beneficial property.

I don't know that I would want to eat it raw....... 🤐 Do you happen to know how much a person should eat of it each day to gain maximum benefit?

I'm new here too and will search for the conversation you referenced.

Thanx! 🙂

It depends on variety of garlic... in India we normally get about three types of garlic..

White,Red and single clove garlic...

White is milder...u can consume about 3 to 4 raw garlic pods per meal..

Red one is bit hot.. and single clove is the hottest one..

I've never heard of red garlic. I can't wait to get a chunk of time to myself so I can really do some good research into all the wonderful information everyone is sharing with me. You folks are great and I really appreciate it. 😀

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solo_...

In Hindi, it is known as ek kali ka lehsun or ek kali lahsun,[3] (Hindi: एक कली का लहसुन), in the Malvi language, it is called ekal kuli (एकल कुली) and 'bitki lassan'. It is mostly found in the central part of India and the major producing States are Madhya Pradesh and some parts of Rajasthan but the biggest supplying districts were Neemuch and Mandsaur. They are grown after Diwali festival in Rabi Season in the month of November and December and harvested in February and March. In comparisons to Chinese Solo garlic, Indian Single clove garlic's are smaller in size around 1-2 cm and more cylindrical in shape instead of full round like onion Indian single clove garlic are not full round in shape, their skin is mostly white and sometime light purple lines on some garlic bulbs.

Not sure how much is too much, but uears ago,I noticed if I had a lot of garlic powder on food several days in a row,it nurned when I urinated for a couple of days. I do use garlic powder on a lot of food but I take garlic oil gel caps most days. Also,if you eat too much garlic, sometimes the smell comes out thru tour pores. But it is very healthy. ..supposed to help bp,cholesterol, purify blood and a natural blood thinner

I don't know that I'd want to eat garlic raw. I do put it in almost everything I cook. If the recipe calls for 1 garlic clove, I use two.

Not sure about garlic oil, as it would depend on the type of oil used to infuse the garlic.

Lots available on the health benefits of garlic, just do a websearch.

Please stay away from bread roti paratha. Can eat chutney as such with evoo as dressing. Garlic can be cooked with onions and tomatoes and ghee or vco. Best in taste and good to health.

well if youve microwaved something for a minute then its not raw!

the benefits of garlic differ depending on whether you want the antibiotic actions in which case raw is best -cooking and certainly microwaving degrades the activity of the essential oils but for heart health then it works well in cooking or crushing with oil

🙂 I'm definitely going to squish some and put it in oil for cooking.

Garlic is good for you yes as its mops up the nasties in the intestines and helps the tummy. I eat quite a lot of garlic in winter and garlic bread during the summer to settle my stomach
