Calorie counting but still same weight

Since I started running, find it hard to lose weight, I eat lots of vegetables and healthy food and gave up even thinking about chocolate a long time ago. Wonder what might help me to lose a few lbs again, definitely not stopping running - makes me feel amazing!

No need to give up chocolate. Just have a few chunks of dark choccy. I had a similar problems a few months back and found swimming and light weights helped burn a few extra calories. Whilst running is great just vary your training plan to avoid damage to knees and ankles.

I feel healthier and happier since I started running. I know my heart is better and my lung capacity is fantastic because I run for up to 40 minutes without getting out of breath. I do look after my knees too, always take rest days and only increase run time very slowly (I am doing 5 km now three times a week)! I know if I was still sitting on the couch, I would be having health issues by now and I am thankful I can move around because so many cannot

When I get stuck I have a couple of days mini blow out. Will put on a couple of pounds but then when back on plan I lose that within a day or so and lose even more over the next few days. A bit of a kick start to your metabolism.

It may be that you are not eating enough. You do need some fat to lose fat.

I have been counting calories for ages and lost 22 lbs so far. Just going to keep going, I am not hungry, eating good meals but not snacking seems to work for me

It's what you put in your mouth that determines if and when you gain or lose weight. Exercise is a wonderful mood enhancing health boosting activity but alone it won't make you lose weight if your calorie intake exceeds your calorie output. I use the 12 week NHS plan and calculated my bmi and calorie allowance from the site then use myfitnesspal app to record calories. It's those extra few snacks in an otherwise healthy day which stall weight loss and I don't know about you but I used to eat a bit more when I exercised as it made me so hungry. So I guess is it fitness or weight loss that motivates you

I do not eat cakes, biscuits, crisps or chocolate so no snacking at all. I make sure my calories are used on meals, good breakfast and dinner mostly but not hungry in the evenings as I always have pudding after dinner too (low fat jelly and ice cream which is delicious)!

Oh do keep running and forget the weight. You will be healthy and happy. I can't exercise at all but I weigh less than I ever did. Am I happy ? No I'd do anything just for even a brisk walk.

Your body will love you for the way you treat it. How about adddi g in some flexibility work. Pilates is great and will tone the wobbly bits.

Be happy

Dee

Thank you. When people tell me to stop running, it is bad for me, I always just think how blessed I am to have good strong legs, heart and lungs when lots of others do not. I think it is good for my confidence to run, so even if I don't lose another pound, I am very happy and thankful I can. When and if I can't I will find other ways to move, just like u r doing xx

Is it possible that you are gaining muscle (which I'm sure I read somewhere weighs heavier), as you are losing fat, so that the scales may not reflect much of a difference, but physical, healthier changes are happening anyway? If you have noticed a vast improvement in your health then you must be doing something right, and you know your own body best. You sound like you know what you are doing to be able to do it healthily, so if it's working for you and you feel good I'd say keep at it and good for you! :-)

I'm gonna get a lot of stick for this i assume but have you tried keeping track of your carbohydrate intake and fats and proteins because this helped me lose 6 lbs in two weeks by simply keeping my carbs super low like 100g a day and my fats and proteins high

It is a good question because I have been told no matter what u eat, as long as you are calorie deficient, you lose weight. However, I do count them and I run three times a week too and I am not losing. I think it is worth reducing carbs to see how it goes, y would I increase fats though? Bread and potatoes are great but they leave me feeling bloated
