As a diabetic, I would avoid it! Its full of carbohydrates which turns to glucose in the body and increases your blood glucose levels which is not good for us! But I suppose if you just had one teaspoon a day it shouldn't cause too much of a problem but anymore than that I personally wouldn't advise it.
malt usually comes from barley and in not gluten free it is also not gmo free, it is a concentrated product. I would suggest you use STEVIA plant powder for your tea, drinks or baking, it is diabetic friendly.
