It's nice to see you.
I'm very sorry you go through this on a daily basis. It's sad to not have any good memories.
You did nothing wrong, you were an innocent young boy. Sadly this stays with us throughout our lives. The trauma and pain will live within us forever. What we need to do is work on taking our power back.
One thing I was reading recently was when these memories come back we should talk to that little child as if they were sitting right beside us. We need to comfort and soothe them and tell them they are safe.
Have you had any trauma therapy?

Sadly not as yet ,I'm going to try and find ways to get of the feeling I'm having at the moment, I just want to sit a cry but it's not going to take my feelings away . Thank you for your message.
The thing is now I have had to retire because of my health it gives me more time to think about my younger days even without thinking about them if you know what I mean, I need help one way or another. Reading sounds good but I can't take things in easily.
Hi Littlecook
I'm sorry to read you're getting bad memories of childhood coming up.
I'm doing therapy late in life and it's helping.
Before this though I did a lot of reading, watching videos, listening to podcasts etc. There's so much we can learn about ourselves. I spent about 10 years working everything out. I would recommend sketching out a timeline if you can. This and journalling has helped me put some distance between present day and my past and I am no longer so consumed by my bad childhood.
I already knew a lot of the issues before I started therapy, but the therapist has helped me cope.
Best wishes
Sorry you are preoccupied by these distressing thoughts. When I find myself stuck in the past, I try to move my body, get up and walk around the house, or pick up my journal and write. Finding out about how trauma can affect people was really useful for me. I agree with Dolphin, getting some therapy would also help. I've had loads over the years. We can't go back in time but we can choose how we use the time we have left, those thoughts that consume us are echos from the past but I know how they can make us feel like we're back there. Take good care.

hi little cook. That was so me before I started EMDR therapy. It’s not for everyone but for me it’s worked. I’m 72 and no longer spend my days reliving my traumas. It’s wonderful to be able to live my life without it all overcoming me. I do know there are EMDR clips on YouTube but unsure how successful they would be but mIght be worth looking into.
It’s really hard when age old memories keep replaying like a video in your mind. I’ve also found mindfulness helpful.
