Could this be PTSD?

A while ago I was hit by a motorbike. After that I used to panic when I heard them rev up or pass me whilst I was out. Today when the house was quiet a motorbike sped past my house and its bought it all back. I remember it like it was yesterday and keep visioning what happened and his reaction to shouting at me at the scene.

I have ptsd and certain sounds, smells, noises can put me in a bad place.

When this happens you should try and tell yourself you are safe. This isn't the same situation it was when you got hit. You will be ok.

Takes a lot of repetition to change the brains response to trauma.

Take care of yourself💕

Oh yes it’s stress after the trauma has occurred.

That’s so difficult to have to relive that moment in your life.

Take care

Yep..thats the lovely PTSD. I get it also with sounds, sometimes smells, anytime I pass a mva, or even if I hear or see one on the tv, even the color "red". PTSD.. the gift that keeps on giving, lol

For me..after 3 mvas therapy, time and distraction methods, and talking with others that have gone through it, have worked the best.

You r not alone.

Oh.. books, especially older ones.. really helped me to know I wasn't n still aren't alone in dealing with the PTSD.After 25 years Im ALOT better.Hug coming ur way :)

Yes that is called “A flashback” After a traumatic experience like that our bodies can heal but our minds can stay on alert a lot longer. Sounds, sights and smells can bring up a fight or flight reaction in our minds. Adrenaline gets released and can panic us as if it’s happening again.

Please try to tell yourself that you are safe. Take a few deep breaths. Try to calm your frayed nerves. See your GP and ask to be referred to get some help with coping strategies. Ask if some CBT sessions will help.

I was hit by a JBC digger truck in 1991 as a pillion passenger on a motorcycle and still shudder when passing one just as a passenger in a car. But gladly those flashbacks and PTSD related to that accident have stopped.

I hope this is of some help to you. x

Yes sounds like it. I had severe anaphylactic shock after gtn spray for my angina. Was a terrible time. Now I panic when anything is sprayed near me. I hope you can get help for it.
