Hi
I have a season ticket for a beautiful garden so I can go and wander around it anytime I like. I feel as if it is my garden now. I photographed this Cabbage White butterfly on these purple flowers.
I joined in March and there was very little to see but I enjoyed seeing the trees with their bare branches silloetted against the grey sky. In the woods there were lots of wood anemones in different colours and the water garden was bare earth but there were promising looking shoots coming up through the ground.
Then the trees started to burst their buds and suddenly all around the bushes were covered in lovely pinks, purples and oranges of the azalea and rhodendron flowers. The camelia flowers were so perfect they did not look real.
The pond and water garden had been transformed and were covered in lilies and the giant green leaves of the Gunnera made me feel as if I was a member of the pixie race. The seat in the water garden had white wisteria hanging over it.
I was told that there is a big grass snake that lives off the frogs on the pond and I always look out for it but have not been lucky enough to spot it yet. Two other visitors said they saw it curled up in the sun by the stream. Grass snakes are harmless and beautiful to watch zigzag through the water.
