It's that time again.....

Christmas... Can be a pretty tough time for those with a BI so best wishes to all of you who are dreading the noise, the stress, the exhaustion, the pressure to have fun.... I will grit my teeth and get through it because it is, for me, a family time, a chance to muse on what I have achieved in the past 12 months and a time to be grateful, once again, that I survived, almost intact :)

I hope everyone gets the Christmas they wish for

All the best to you and yours, Hidden , and the same to everyone else.

Just remember, today is the shortest day of the year. From now on it's getting nearer to spring.

Happy Christmas everyone.

Yes, get ready for the bikinis to appear in the shops in January, straight after the Easter eggs. Let's hope we get some proper heat for at least a week this summer, I have forgotten the feel of hot sun on my face

Yes Abi, definitely a time for gritting the teeth and putting others first. I have to say, every year after all the shopping, visiting and general Xmas preparations, I sit alone on Christmas night and wonder 'What the hell was that all about ??'

Love & best wishes to everyone for a trauma-free (even happy ?) Christmas !

Yep, happiness is a bonus! I tend to sit in a corner with a comforting glass of something and let it wash over me, luckily there are no small (by definition LOUD) children in the family anymore, so it is getting easier and it will be back to work in dreary January soon enough. May next year be a good one for you Cat X

It's the first time since my accident (17 years ago!) that I've fully realised this and embraced (for want of a better word...) the fatigue. It shall be an interesting one...grin and bare it this year I think :-) merry Christmas to you and all the best for next year xx

Thanks for posting that abi, even 30 years on from my Tbi u still struggle with Christmas and my family still struggle with me finding it hard.

It's like I should have learned to cope by now but the stress and fatigue at Christmas is just not like any Other time of the year. And as well as coping well you shouldn't get tired, never go to bed early and do not feel or look tired.

Rant over, Happy Christmas everyone!

Yes Jaec, it is not one of the things you 'get over' like a physical injury and family find it bewildering that even after 5, 15, 40 years, you are not 'back to normal' That is the endless joy of a BI and why sites like this are so needed. Here's to 2017 being pain free and healthy for us all X

Merry Christmas to you all. I had got into my head that Christmas day was Monday, so now have a day less to get ready. Once Christmas day is out of the way, time to chill :-)

I can't be bothered to put a tree up as I live alone so it could quite easily pass me by. I will be glad when it's over.

Not a fun or easy time, I had my bleed in December and was hospitalised for two and a half weeks, released a few days before Christmas...to my bed, which I hardly left. O'h and I had the winter bug (d&v) to boot! Nobody came near me practically, or phoned. It was like solitary confinement, just me and my bed. My daughter flew away on her trip, my family got on with celebrating Christmas without me. I don't think Christmas has or will ever be easy as I have too many unpleasant memories. I also have chronic fatigue so any overload hits me like a ton of bricks.

But I always put on a masterful disguise and pretend everything's a hoot, and life's one big party! I'll be pleased to see the back of this year!
