Went into farm shop and they had home made pork pies, i would have paid ten pounds for one. I picked it up put it down 3 times, did i buy it, no, i thought about the pain and discomfort,not just for one day but for four days. I was so proud of myself!!! does anyone else have such cravings.

I can't eat gluten, amongst other things, and my husband can't eat shrimp. So, the other day, when I bought the rest of the family pork pie (which we all love) I bought myself the most disgustingly large tiger shrimp I could find. I poached them gently in butter, minced garlic, white wine and tarragon. I served them on a small bed of rice with steamed asparagus on the side. They were heavenly!!! Did I miss the pork pie ... for a fraction of a second, until I bit into that first tender succulent shrimp. I never thought about pork pie again! So now you know what I do when I get a craving. I spoil myself rotten with something I consider decadent ... then I could care less about what I was craving earlier. I feel virtuous for not having eaten the "forbidden fruit" and I feel luxurious for having spoiled myself. Win, win! Ü

Having the two together..the CD and the Type 2...I so want to play in the norty corner..(fruit based desserts)...and I darent....watch this space....

Pizza! And no, don't try and fob me off with a GF one, they are not the same. I have been on my GF diet for a year and as I am now feeling better I am also missing the foods I loved before but I am good and don't want 3 days on the toilet.

Got to laugh at this because I have a pork pie in the fridge ready for lunch today and one in the freezer GF pork pies are to die for lol

You have to think about what you can have ...not what you can't . Look at thedr.com Dr Tom O'Bryan... his advise is excellent ..... according to his info Gluten is primarely a neurological condition which has much worse far reaching implications than gut ache

tim2012 make your own pizza----2 oz flour (any gf SELF RAISING) 1/2oz marg.... { these measurements do not have to be strictly adhered to---I do 2oz ish with 1/2oz ish!} shove it in a processor to make breadcrumbs, or use your hands, add enough water to make a SOFT dough, roll out to whatever thickness you want and put on the topping you desire ......do not cook the base first it becomes rock hard and unpleasant.

as long as you do not make the base too dry it makes a good soft edible pizza base.

You could put in a big pinch of dried herbs in the breadcrumb mix.

I am going to try the "Hairy Bikers" recipe for their low fat pie, they used pizza dough instead of pastry,, I find GF pastry thick and unpleasant but hopefully my pizza dough will make a finer "pastry" I will let you know how it works out.

Well done you..:).. I missed Yorkshire pudding but I have discovered the the GF ones are excellent..

And yes the consequences are not good, and not just the short term ones but the potential long term ones.. Thats why I stay GF

Been gf for just over a year and had my first craving this week, but you can keep your pork pie..... I could rugby tackle a pint of guinness!

You are allowed to say...if we don't tell anyone where we get decent food for us from then these businesses might go under.....I would so love to eat a pork pie that even just reminds me of what the real thing used to taste like...it's been over 20 years

Yes, yes, yes! Yesterday I did just the same at Waitrose, so when I saw your "Pork Pie" item I clicked on immediately hoping you had found the Holy Grail, a "gluten free" pork pie.

Can't tell you how I then felt to learn you hadn't! (please don't take offence, it was just my stupid optimism again)

If there is a huge number of us with this "longing", maybe, just maybe, someone will come up with the real recipe and share it with us, or just make and sell it AND MAKE A SMALL FORTUNE .............

The foodamentalists often do the travelling food fairs and make pork pies: info@foodamentalists.co.uk

It wouldn't be impossible to make your own by just replacing the gluten ingredients in a recipe with non gluten ones. I remember the little Bero baking book had a recipe for pork pie so it couldn't have been rocket science (like baking gf bread!).
