Anyone found a nice tasting gf mine pie? We tried a few and were all horrible. Would like my husband to have a nice treat for Xmas.

Hello Kari

I’d recommend trying the Co-op mince pies.

I like M&S ones, but the most delicious ones are the ludicrously expensive ones from Costa - they come pre-wrapped and are very nice.

The M&S are nice but unfortunately not dairy free so he can’t eat them 🙈 Will check out Costa, thanks!

Mostly I make my own with Glutafin white mix (when I got it on prescription), nowadays with Doves Farm Freee, always adding a teaspoon of Xanthan Gum to make it more pliable and easy to handle. However for a treat the M & S ones are really nice with buttery pastry, Tesco are ok but probably not made with butter pastry, ok for those who can’t have dairy but not for me.

Before the pandemic I made my own, with gluten free mincemeat bought from a local shop. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to get hold of it since, so haven’t made any, and I don’t really trust bought ones any more.

There is a recipe for gf sweet mince meat. I'm not sure where I saw it but I'm pretty sure if you Google it you'll find it. I did save it somewhere so if you do want it let me know and I will dig to find it 😊

Thank you, that’s very nice of you. It’s always useful to have. I’ve only just seen your post, so you have almost a year to dig out your recipe 😊, so no rush.

Thank you so much. I’ve only just seen your message. It’s very much appreciated. It must have taken a while to write it out, so many thanks 😊

I make my own with Jus Rol gluten free pastry and Robertson’s mincemeat which is gluten free. Work out well.

Not sure if we would have time as we have very young twins 🙈

I didn’t realise Robertson’s mincemeat was gluten free 😊

Hi there,

Spent years trying to find the best mince pie that was Gluten Free and dairy free and egg free, As also said above, 100% the Costa Coffee one, as said above it comes wrapped as a vegan mince pie, my parents and my family who can eat gluten have this one as well as it’s just so much better, it’s absolutely amazing and should definitely cut back on how many eat myself over the Christmas period. That’s seriously addictive and good. :-) :-)

Another fan of the Costa ones! Last year Sainsbury’s sold a twin pack that looked like the Costa ones and they were nice.I haven’t looked for them this year yet.

I have to agree with the Costa suggestion, they are ridiculously expensive but they are definitely the best ones I've tried and they are definitely gluten free, I only have to have the tiniest bit of cross contamination to be in pain for a fortnight and I haven't had any issues with them at all, if you're interested as well Morrisons make a pecan pie that looks similar to the Costa mince pie, it is pre wrapped, you'll find it in the sandwich fridge, that's also a very nice treat

I've thoroughly enjoyed the gf Costa mince pies. I've not had any nasty reactions after them either.

And they are dairy and egg free too

I haven’t tried the Costa ones but think the M&S ones are delicious. They’re the ones I’ve had every Christmas for years now and I love them - and so does my partner who doesn’t need to eat gluten free so I find that an excellent recommendation!

Oh my goodness, today in Morrison’s, I saw they had ginger crumble mince pies. I did not buy them as I would have eaten the whole 6 before leaving the shop.

I’ve promised myself I’ll go back on 20th - no sooner.

😋

Oh sounds interesting!!!!

Back when I used to eat GF foods (!) I found Tesco own brand mince pies to be quite nice. I think they can all be a bit on the sweet side, as most commercial mince pies are, but they are nice. If you can eat dairy, a nice dob of fresh cream on top would bring the sweetness down.
