Was intrigued to see your post, as tried them only yesterday and have been feeling bad ever since. Like you, I couldn't see anything on the label to ring alarm bells, but, equally, I can't think of anything else that could have caused a problem.

Sorry not to be able to offer anything more than sympathy, but I hope it helps to know you aren't the only one. I've been wracking my brains to work out what could possible have 'glutened' me! It will be interesting to see if anybody else has had the same experience as we have...

Do hope you feel better soon. It's so frustrating when you're doing all the right things and still get caught out.

Hya, I had a bad reaction which got worse when I ate some of their brown bread a 2nd time. I emailed them and they told me that all their products were tested to be within codex.

And I hope that you both feel better soon.

Thanks, Jerry.

That's really good to know. Think I'll go back to basics and return to home-cooking. Christmas has not been kind to my poor system!

Do find gluten-free products can be rather unreliable...

i've given up trying any type of gf brown bread...cos i seem to bloat on all of them....

i'm feeling bloated and poorly today, cos on new years day, i broke my own rule and had a bought gf chocolate flan....never ever again.....

so i know exactly how your feeling.......:(

I'm sorry to hear that Janie :( it's unfair that we are 'fooled' by the so to speak gluten free ranges. Coeliac vegan thankyou for responding I too have been racking my brains trying to think what I had been glistened with, so unwell and I'm sad to say its ruined my last day off before returning to work!! Not a happy bunny! But atleast I can mark them off my list to never have again. I just find it so hard to get the right consistency when baking my own bread. Going to try a rice flour concoction and see what happens this time!! Hopefully one day we will feel normal and healthy!!

Every loaf I have tried making always seems to turn out like a house brick........ Found genius seeded loaf seems the nicest gf one and I don't seem ( touch wood ) to flip out on it.....but it's like hens teeth to find in the super markets when I live........:(

It may be the thickener in the bread that's giving you problems. Hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose can cause bloating, constipation or diarrhoea. It's another one of the E 400 additives that can cause problems.

Maltodextrine is one that gets me every time......

In the same, maltodextrin and also dextrose is a biggie, and caramel.. I read that these are dereratives from wheat so I wasn't surprised why I had been ill numerous times. I always react when I have anything from the genius range, I have written to them a few times with the product and also the list of ingredients they don't really seem too bothered so I have fallen out with their products. Thanks Penel, I think I'm just going to have to leave any kind of products and start going back to the basics and make everything myself, hard as I work ridiculous hours but ya gotta do what ya gotta do... Sigh.. !

Sorry to hear you're still feeling rough.

Sounds like a lot of us have had problems with this. At least there's some comfort in the fact that we're all in it together - although it's a bit disheartening to learn how little we can rely on a 'gluten-free' label...

Do hope everyone posting feels well again soon!

Was Tuesday When I had the maltodextrine, still feel ill, am I the only one who bloats on this stuff.....i'm now ten pound heavier than I was on Tuesday morning I know this because I go slimming world...... At least today my tummy has started to soften, just hope the water retention has shifted before my next weigh in....... One things for sure.....only natural gluten free foods are in my house now......

I avoid the maltodextrine but only because I've seen a lot of ppl on here mentioning it.. I didn't want to risk! But I notice its I. A lot of 'gf' ranges so I avoid all that really, ten pound is a lot, I usually go up and down, mostly up unfortunately, I think it's just because if the bloating but I don't know..
