Sensitive to mould and damp

Since the past few months I have been severely unwell. It started bystaying at my parents house, where the ceiling had collapsed due to

water damage from rain and ongoing work. One day I woke up with

gasping for air, allergy symptoms, nausea, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, brain fog and

sensitivity to light. I am still currently suffering from these

symptoms. But also got insomnia and keep food in my stomach as I tend to want to go do diarrhoea with a metallic taste in my mouth all the time. Furthermore, I’ve been to A&E several

times which many tests, such as; blood tests and CT scan. All the

tests have come back normal. I also gave stool sample in but that’s

come back normal. In the end they have put it down to IBS, stress and

anxiety. Can you please give me some advice as my condition is getting worse and is affecting the quality of my life. Last month I had a endoscopy and colonoscopy but they’ve come back normal. I’m waiting for my allergy test results to come back. The doctors still can’t find what’s wrong.

I’ve decided to take stomach binders such as Chlorella capsules and liquid Zeolite and that eases the symptoms slightly.

I would just want to feel better again, but I feel worse.

Any advice?

Thanks,

Kindest Regards,

Aisha Kauser

if it's black mold it can kill you. If you feel bad there and didn't feel bad before then get out. Your health is important. It could be many different things. Don't play detective and have a million tests. Just leave-problem solved.

Hi Findy,

I don’t live at my parents home and not visited in a while. I do have a bit of damp in the house that I am living at the moment, but the Landlord has apparently fixed the issue by painting it. Going to be moving by the end of this month, so I hope my symptoms get better. I’m not sure what else to do as to solve this situation as the NHS doctors are even willing to consider that my symptoms are caused by damp and mould sensitivity.

Thanks,

Aisha

Your initial spell of breathlessness may have been attributable to your exposure to the dust in your parents home. Your doctors may have assumed that that will slowly fade as your exposure to the dust declined - if that has not happened you should seek medical advice from your doctor and seek a referral to a respiratory specialist.

Your other symptoms are not likely to be associated with a fungal infection.
