Nasty one this!
Your GP will be able to give you some medication to help, but until then, try a warm bath or shower, or strangely enough some ice packs!
The latter work for me, but a lot of people can't stand the thought in this chilly weather!
I hope you get some relief soon!

Thank you - I will try the medication, I wasn't aware there was any for this awful condition.........it's driving me mad
I don't honestly think I could bear the ice packs on my poor aching jumping legs, they are far too achey
The hot baths do help but I struggle to get in and out of the bath
Hi there,
If you can bare the pain I usually find certain stretches help for me, but I know it's not always possible. My technique (it sounds a bit silly)I lie backwards on my bed for support - the opposite side to wear I would usually rest my head and place my feet on the headboard, and position myself until I feel the stretch in my leg, if I can hold if there for a long enough it usually helps. But again, sometimes I am so knackered I can't be bothered to do so myself, it really depends on how bad they are! Also, my legs don't twitch so often.
Maybe try a good old fashioned pace? You could maybe try 'steps' at the bottom of the stairs?
I hope you get some relief soon. The ice pack idea from Moffy sounds like a good one, although I understand your point there as I can never stand anything freezing cold!
Kind Regards

It may be an old wives tale but its one thing you can try its not going to hurt you or cost anything... Slip an old bar of soap between the sheets towards the end of the bed.... Have seen it mentioned on here before and also saw it on the Internet .... It can't harm you so may well be worth a try .....

Hmmmmmmmm
I have had this for over six years, and didnt know it was restless leg syndrome for sure until a month ago. It used to be at night time only, but I have it all the time now apart from if I am walking or standing. I find it annoying but manage to try and put it to the back of my mind most of the time, by trying not to focus on it.
best wishes Izzy.
Restless legs I think one of the worst things, I have been taking
A high dose of magnesium I must admit I was doubtful about it
But it has worked for me.
I know some people say they eat a banana a day which is the same
I have done that and for me no good
I find using a boots sound wave therapy machine works great fr pain relief esp. With restless legs and muscles in spasm.
Hi
I can't remember the name of it, but Boots do a supplement which helps restless legs. I seem to remember it has cranberyy in it. Will look it up and let you know.
The other thing I use (don't know if I'm allowed to give tis info} - if not sorry -
BIOFREEZE rollon from the chemist. It is expensive (About £10) but you don't need a lot and it will last about a year.
I don't know if anyone else has tried it. It has a cooling freezing effect on the area which seems to calm my muscle jumps down.
Try a warm bath before it.
Hope you find a relief from one of these answers.

I suffered with restless leg syndrome and also had bad cramps so my friend suggested I have a glass of tonic water before I go to bed because it contains quinine. It does help the cramps in my legs which stopped me moving my legs around so much. x
I find lying down is the best remedy for restless legs, for instant relief, although I have to say that recently it seems to be happening more regularly and I can't always lie down when it happens. Very frustrating. I will ask my GP about medication. I didn't realise you could have medication for it.
Hi I have restless leg syndrome it is horrid...I get it worse in one leg ,the last time I got it I put one leg strait and placed my other foot over it on an angle with the pressure on my instep. It has worked every time....not sure if I described that enough for you to understand
I also use Biofreeze and I get it on the internet much cheaper ! If you like I can inbox you as not sure about the rules on here for posting web site. They do spray and Gel as well
Hope this helps Oh and I also take Magnesium it is good and also helps with sleep x

I suffer from the same complaint and my doctor prescribed me with Pramipexole I take 2 about 1-2 hours before bed and that has solved my restless legs. I hope this helps you too. Katy
Ive been on ropinarole for years for restless leg syndrome and without it I wouldn't be able to cope with this condition . It is the only thing that works for me
I suffer from this too in my arms and legs. I take amitriptyline 20mg at night which helps. I try to stick to the same time of taking them but find sticking to the same bed time helps. I'm always so much worse if I go to bed late and am tired (well more than usual tiredness). Hope this helps.
It's dreadful isn't it. I have ropinirole for it which helps but some nights it does get so bad I don't know what to do with myself.
Hugs
Thank you very much to all the people who have bothered to reply to my restless legs question......you're all stars
Keep well
