Beautiful day today in sunny Aberdeenshire . Only wish I could go out and enjoy it . All I did yesterday is take my daughter around the shops for a couple of hours and I've been suffering with pain since I came home. It took hours for my meds to work .The pain I get is in my feet knees back and if you get all 3 at the same time I am very unlucky . I have awoken this morn and my back is sore and stiff , I hate this illness. If I could only give up work I would do , can anybody please give me some advice on how much I would get if I gave up my job coz of my illness . I've been struggling with my work for a long time now but to scared to pack it it. Any advice please xx billie

Hi Billysmini

I am so very sorry to read that you are feeling so poorly and I genuinely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to this. I am not on any benefits myself so I do not know what the rates are? I would take advice before quitting work as you could be sanctioned for making yourself unemployed? However, I have pasted you some links below for the main benefits:

Job Seekers Allowance:

gov.uk/jobseekers-allowance...

Income Support:

gov.uk/income-support

Personal Independence Payment:

gov.uk/pip/how-to-claim

Employment Support Allowance:

gov.uk/employment-support-a...

I want to genuinely and sincerely wish you all the best of luck.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Hello there, dont quit your job. See if you can go on disability if you can. You need to get an approval from a doctor first . Take care.

Also look into Access to Work. They can help with equipment and adaptations to help make your job easier so you can continue to work.

Hi Billie, i understand what you are going through. i had to make the decision to give up work when my gp said rather than working to live...i was living to work. i had tried for 7 years with the pain etc to continue in a job i loved. but after numerous moves around in work to help me and cutting my hours i still couldnt manage.i had no quality of life with my family. I must say im getting used to it now and still learning to pace.

I first had to go out sick and then i was awarded dla, and now esa..so it helps to cover some lost wages. My quality of life is a bit better and its the best decision i had made.If you are too ill to work you need to get the support of your gp. put in a sickline and stay out from work. im in the process of ill health dismissal from work as i was turned down for my pension on the basis that i could get better before im 65!!! i really hope so!!

i wish you lots of luck and can only advise that if you are going to apply for benefits like dla.please get an adviser to help you with filling in the forms. x

I would endorse what Irish-Colleen says. I had to give up work or I would have been sacked for incapability. I had gone through the Occ. health screening. I have a pension of £10.00 per week from work! However, with ESA and PIP, I can manage. I have improved a little. My GP has been very supportive. I have since started on the Toning tables which helps keep joints moving without the effort! I get up when my joints feel like it, and go to bed when I'm tired. I am trying to eat a natural diet (ie if I don't see it in its raw state then I don't eat it!) There is more to life than work, although it is scary making such a big change. I am lucky in some respects as I am in rented accommodation so don't have a mortgage, which would be crippling financially. I wish you good luck
