Fillings?

I have been advised to consider having my fillings replaced with white mercury free ones. I've read lots of research and would like to go ahead. Would the NHS pay for the treatment? I'm already paying privately for my chiropractor. Ty S x

I've heard a lot of this happening , think you may need to somehow show that you may be suffering before they do anything. I've been paying for white ones as the NHS don't pay unless there somewhere where they can be seen. Also make sure, this is really important . That you go to a clinic that specialises in taking out fillings. It can be pretty harmful to your body the vapour is toxic to your body . I looked into it some time ago when I started feeling poorly and many fibro sufferers have had them taken out . Also I read recently an article that states if you have Fibro , Dentist needs to be extra careful when dealing with a sufferer of Fibro. So make sure you take care if you thinking of having it done. Take care , lots if luck x x

Thankyou so much for the advice. I'll keep your points in my notepad (I'll totally forget the details otherwise!!). I'm at the start of this, so would you mind if I got in touch if I come across any problems or questions that only a fellow fibromite could share?! X

Crikey, I'm very glad you sent this to me! It all sounds like modern day torture! But again fore-warned is fore-armed, at least I have more to discuss with a dentist, when I find one who has lots of experience! Thanks again nutty, S x (love your name by the way!)

I discussed this with my dentist a few years ago and he said that removing the fillings while they are still sound is likely to be more harmful than leaving them in place (not that they acknowledge that they are harmful!). I now have it noted on my records that all new fillings are to be composite and dentist was told under no circumstances was he to put amalgam anywhere near my kids' mouths on pain of death.

Now that's a thought! I'd never thought that it might be a consideration for my childrens health. My boys are both adults but I will give them 'the mother lecture!'. Thank you!
