physiotherapist nightmare.

Hello everyone, I am new to this site. I would like to have a rant about my doctors and physiotherapist. I have had chronic back pain and sciatica for over two years now. I have not had any scans just sent to the physiotherapist. Well I went last mounth where he said its not my back at all it's my hip. And walking on it would cause more problems. This week he said its not my hip why would I think it's my hip (many because you said so). He said that I would not be entitled to scan also he doesn't think my hypo mobility would have anything to do with my problems. Also I changed doctors this year my last doctors had not recorded that I've been having back problems. Plus no record that I have hypo mobility. I had to ring the hospital records to send them the information from the specialist. I'm so fed up :(

I was in the same position, my previous gp never wrote half in my notes , so I had to start again earlier this yr. you really do need an understanding gp to get any where. Im sure you can request a scan,

welcome to the site, its a wealth of information

Thank you for the reply. I'm going to keep a diary of what's going on. I'm going back to see the doctors tomorrow. I feel better having a rant now lol.

This is ridiculous. I'm so sorry you're being put through all this unnecessary stress.

Is it hypermobility you have been diagnosed with? This is common with Fibro as its now considered to be a risk factor for developing Fibro.

Perhaps insist on seeing a different physiotherapist and starting again. This article might help:

Yeah it's hypo mobility I was diagnose with. Most of my mussels hurt and my cousin has fibro and I wonder if I do as well.

It doesn't matter so much on here but when talking about it with GPs, Physios, etc remember that it is hyPERmobility (ie. excessive joint mobility) not hyPOmobility.

I feel like crying but I know I'm not the only one getting messed about. I seems everyone I talk to is having problems with their GP. I know their are good GPs out their but I do think standards are slipping and theirs not much compassion and understanding from them.

My Physio didn't actually force me to do anything, or force my limbs either. At my assessment in December he had me lie down on the bed and then checked my legs/hips/feet/ankles and then my spine when I sat up. He also put on my trainers afterwards to save me stooping down as he took them off to look for swelling/degenerations on my lower limbs.

It all depends on the physio you get. My OT is a complete bimbo, excuse the insult, she continually gets my medical conditions wrong despite having the notes she made at my *cough* assessment with her and then instructs me to do things that my Physio and my specialist say not to.

My mother had chronic back pain and doctors kept changing medicines with each diagnosis. It really got worse and we shifted to <a href=”physiomed.ca/symptoms-condi... treatment from therapists at Toronto for pain relief</a>. It worked. They have well experienced doctors specialized in each therapy.
