My question is does Fibro Action conduct polls from bloggers, and if so could they possbly do one with the question. Have you ever had your thyrroid function tested?
There seems to be growing evidence Hypo T, Fibro, ME and chroinic fatigue are possibly related to underactive thyroid.

Yes, we do have polls on here. Different ones get featured in the side panel at different times, but you can also access them from the 'polls' label in the top menu. I don't know how its done, or whether its only admin who can post them.
I have had my thyroid function tested twice - once many years ago, and the GP didn't beleive the test when it came back OK, so tried me on thyroxin anyway - zero improvement after 3 months, so discontinued. Then tested again a couple of years ago. All normal.
But my brother has underactive thyroid, and my oldest son had overactive, and had to have it removed. I don't know if its a family thing or not.
Hi siskin , you must have read my mind, I was about to post a similar question asking about the links with fibro and hypothyroidism. I too was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and treated with thyroxine, my GP now tells me my thyroid levels are normal, BUT I still have all the symptoms.- I am sure the oracles will have an answer
I have had Fibo for many years. I also have Throyid Diease. This was diagnosed a few years before fibro, I have 4 sisters including myself with Throyid Diease bit there is only myself with Fibro,
To me Throyid diease is hredatory and have spoken to my Consultant and my doctor on this issue. sorry for my spealing not to well today
Of course they are the problem is that there's not enough research in the uk or europe about this. There is in America and Canada but it will take another decade or two for people like us to get any justice at all about all this over side of the world.
You may develop first either fibro or hypothyroidism and then you develop the other - the rest follow as a consequence of this two in a matter of time - these are the general lines is not always exactly in this order but for most people is.
For instance, after a neck trauma/whiplash or trauma of a different kind is more common to develop first fibro but some people like me developed first Hypo (Although this only means it was diagnosed first since it is not known how to diagnose fibro unless you have fully developed most of the symptoms - I guess I did as soon as I injured my neck but...As I said).
Due to this in this part of the world we are not even being compensated for it. We can only dream with having compensation for the fibro - as if the hypo was only a joke or sth...As it is as you can imagine (My apologies for the sarcasm)
If it takes longer than average to develop one or the other I think it depends on a few factors as age and energy level/ strengh or stamina before the problem started. For instance, In my opinion the fitter you were and the more stamina you had the quicker symptoms develop - in case of accident, of course it depends on the gravity of it - the strengh of the impact for instance.
This is because your own immune system starts working against you instead than in favor - the tougher it is the thougher you get it, which can be express in the speed problems develop - at the end of the day, I think we all are getting there. Extraordinary reason than most ignored may make a difference in some sufferers - If someone is not and free of doubt, Please, pass the recipe over here!!!
hi im am on 125mc of thyroxine and have had thyroid underactive and fibro for the past 20 years as well as many other things so you could have it all together or one first but what does it matter if you end up with both you are still going to suffer with all the problems so i just deal with every day as it comes all the best sheil
Hi Siskin
There is a tab on the blue bar above called Polls. Click on this and then on the suggest a poll, you can then submit your suggestion.
I am also on thyroxine but only 50mcg as I can't get them to believe me that its my thyroid. If I ever win the lottery I am immediately seeing a private doctor.
At the mo I'm stuck with the answer that its fibro and I'll never feel better than I do now.
i am under active thyroid and been on thyroxine for 14 months, my fibro myalgia started about 6 months before , my doctor reckons there seems to be a link, but the thyroxine hasnt helped with the fibro pain.
There is medical research that suggests that our thyroid and adrealine are not working correctly but most blood tests come back normal and did you fast for your blood test. Salvia test is much better as most who have blood tests done come back normal.
