Explaining Depression

Did anyone see Stephen Fry on the BBC1 Breakfast TV this morning? What he said about his depression being like the weather was so helpful to me. Every day I feel different and can do nothing about it. My hubby says he will from now on ask me how the weather is and will find it a lot easier to understand if I say for example cloudy, grey or overcast.Last Saturday I would have said sunny, blue sky but Sunday was totally overcast with drizzle whilst today I'd say its just cloudy with a few breaks of sunshine. Brilliant I feel better already! Hope this helps someone too. x

That made me laugh, Neways! I think I will do a daily weather forecast too!

So far today there have been reasonable patches of brightness, but some hot and cold spells, with occasional flashes of lightning!

I didn't see this on TV but I have to say I totally agree with him. I made a bear as I am a bear maker for a friend a lady to display in her kitchen with different things to hold in his paws for what mood she was in. She said it helped her family as they now know how she is and can then deal with her easier.

hi

I saw him on tv too, He explained his depression so clearly so we could understand easily, a very clever man indeed ,

Hoping tomorrow is a lovely sunny day tomorrow xx

Here the quote from him

“If you know someone who’s depressed, please resolve never to ask them why. Depression isn’t a straightforward response to a bad situation; depression just is, like the weather.

Try to understand the blackness, lethargy, hopelessness, and loneliness they’re going through. Be there for them when they come through the other side. It’s hard to be a friend to someone who’s depressed, but it is one of the kindest, noblest, and best things you will ever do.”

What a lovely man is Stephen Fry! He's my favourite screen personality - and a great actor, too.
