I've just started on the half of the lowest dose every other day.

it helps with my depression but makes me very drowsy, almost drunk, my tongue is numb, and I'm not hungry at all.

Hi

I tried it to help me sleep as opposed to depression, and it didn't do much for me so I went back on amytriptyline. Many of that family of drugs can cause drowsiness and a dry mouth. Am seeing GP tomroow to see if she can suggest an alternative to amytriptyline, due to the side-effects. If you can stick with it the side-effects may well lessen in time.

I had never heard of it before so looked it up apparantly it's used on cats and dogs too... Didn't mention budgies.

Though seriously I hope your body gets used to it and it helps..

Hugs VG x

Hello Sandra

Mirtazapine is an antidepressant medication and the side effects you mention are not uncommon. If you find after a while that these side effects become a problem then please speak to your GP about this to make sure this medication is suitable for you.

Here is some info on Mirtazapine -

Hope this is helpful.

thanks, will look it up.

I feel slightly drunk and don't seem to be as subtle as usual.

two friends and I are arranging to go and see les mis. one friend requested time to "nip home first and freshen up".

I rang her to say she'd have to get picked up on our way "but" I said "you'll have to have a wash first" - luckily, she knows me well, & she laughed!
