Just started taking this med at the weekend, had horrible feelings with it. Phoned to speak to my doc today and am still waiting on a reply. Has anyone else been on this med and how are they feeling on it?

Hi there

I used to take it a while ago but was given it by my neurologist for pain and tremors. I only took half a tablet before going to sleep. Found it great for this but couldn't tolerate going higher or taking it during the day.

I also put on a lot of weight, which I understand is a side effect on low doses and this affected my mobility.

Sorry can't help you anymore as I was made to stop all my medication at that time as my liver functions went to high....so do not take it anymore.

Good luck with your doctor

Andrea

Hi karencw ,

sorry not taken this and i am not that up on it either educationaly and am not a professional by any means but worked in pharmacy 8yrs .

i think as far as all meds go it takes usually around 2 weeks to get working properly and if you suffer major side effects you do not like or feel uncomfortable with you do have to see Dr . They know what they doing most of them anyway.

are you taking for depression or something else ??

have you tried other things prior to this and this is something else they gtrying you on?

it is always good for all of us to know the experience others have on meds so they can help out.

you have tried it so far but only a short period of time and sometimes we go through rough to get the result we need, only if it really is effecting you that you cannot do things daily that you normally do then best to get help.

i hope things work out with it and we are allllll here to listen and help and try support you in whatever ways we can

big huggles to you

Mirtazapine was great for knocking me out, It also shut my mind off and gave me a huge appetite. I could not even add two and two together.

I was on this for a while. As one of the others said I was given it for depression. Before I got my diagnosis of fibro I was referred to a neurologist who took me of the mirtazepane, as he thought the side effects may be part of my problems. They completely zonked me and I was sleeping most of the time. I took 30mg twice daily. Better without - but that's just my experience. If your doc has asked you to persevere for a week you ought to do so and then at least you'll know from your own experience.

Good luck with it - and use the opportunity to get some sleep!

Hugs and things

hi, i took this for a few weeks for depression, as my usual pills were not working, sorry but they made me suicidal, really tipped me over the edge, doctor even called me at home and visited everyday without asking just to check on me as i was so bad, but we are all different so give them a try, just be careful , you know your body, if you are at all concerned get help, quickly, doctor stressed i was not to be left alone at any time till i was sorted, which i might add i am now, good luck xx

Hi,I have taken Mirtazapine for about 5 years. It was originally prescribed because I was having trouble sleeping. I take one 15mg tablet each night and find it works well without any side effects for me. I did increase the dosage for a while but was feeling too drowsy the following day so went back to 15mg.

Kind regards,

Sandie
