Oh dear. Is she panting too? She maybe stressed about something, maybe uncomfortable and unable to rest. Does your vet have an out of hours clinic? Ring them now Gins for advise please. She sounds very stressed.

Ps she may not need euthanising, don't be disheartened. If she is up and about, eating and drinking, she may have an infection. If she has been out in this weather she may have ingested some grit or salt for the roads which is irritating her.

Oh Gins, what an awful position to be in. Has she done this sort of thing before? You say she has gone to sleep now so you are doing the right thing just keeping an eye on her for now. Piggy is quite right, she may have an infection or ingested salt or grit,we have all been warned to keep pets away from it in this area.

If she continues with this when she wakes then i would definately give the vet a ring and have a chat...it could be all manner of things but because of her age you are tending to think the worst which of course is understandable.

I have a doggy too and she is the apple of our eyes. A very much loved and spoilt member of the family and you must be frantic with worry. I wish i could offer more practical advice but please, keep us all informed of any news, i shall be thinking of you both all day.

Much love to you and your doggy and gentle hugs......Charlii xxxx

Poor old doggy - it's so heart breaking to see them suffer, and they can't tell you what's wrong. I'm sure the vet would be able to put her right - they don't usually put them to sleep unless they are past hope and in great pain.

Hope she gets better soon!

Love to you and dog

Hello Gins, I do feel for you, we do love our pets don't we. The main issue must be is she in pain, is she suffering in any way. Being doolally isn't too much of a problem bless her, it's her comfort that matters and her quality of life. If she seems fine otherwise in my personal opinion then I wouldn't worry, let her carry on as long as she isn't suffering. Is she incontinent, is this a problem?! Does everything else function ok for her?! If the answer to these questions is no then perhaps her time has come to be at peace.

I hope this helps and my heart goes out to you as we've just had our much loved doggy endure two operations, but thankfully he has recovered, although he does have a nerve cancer which thankfully doesn't spread to organs but his leg is at risk. It's still an awful worry for him bless him.

Take care Gins and please know we are here for you and we all understand how tough it can be with our darling pets.

Bless you and your doggy.

HI gins how is your dog today? It's not nice to see your dog in distress, they can't tell you poor things. I would definatly take her to see the vet just as a precaution even if she seems fine.

Take care honey and fingers crossed xxx

Hi Gins I had a Tibetan terrier called Jaffa cake and she got confused at times,If I sat and held my hand down she would think I was giving her a treat and nibble my fingers. lol

It is always worrying when they get older,I do hope all is ok today.

Big hugs to you and your old doggy x (((((((((((((((((((((((((((( :-) ))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Hi Gin!

I know what you are going through! My cat, Honey who is 15 has been acting strange this past week! I am worried that he is not able to jump up on the counter to get his food! I love him more than any other thing in this world! I tried putting his food down on the floor and he didn't touch it! When he jumps he falls back ward and gets frightened!

You and your dog will be in my prayers!

Love, hugs and kisses, Maidie

Thinking of you Gins and your doggy, hope she has a peaceful night. If she gets worse each time, it sounds like a natural decline, but I would personally seek the vets advice about what's best for her. It's incredibly hard when they get older and we love them so much, we can't see life without them, bless them, but we have to put their well being first, that's the tough part when we feel so much ourselves. Bless you. xxxx

Hi Gins it's quite possible your dog could be experiencing seizures which can be common in elderly dogs especially whilst sleeping, seizures can leave a dog restless distressed with poor co ordination i would recommend you take your lovely dog along to the vets for a wee checkup! xxx

Bless you, what a terrible thing to be going through, I had to have my darling cat put to sleep yesterday. I find the whole experience so totally overwhelming. I hope things turn out ok x x

I'm so sorry to hear about your lovely cat. You must be absolutely devastated. I know I was when I had to have my beautiful cat put to sleep two years ago. I still get upset when I think about him - he was like my baby (i do have kids as well but he was such a huge part of the family too). I have another cat too, she suffered a spinal stroke six weeks after the first one was put to sleep - I think it was the shock of him not being around any more that did it. But she recovered (thankfully) and she's almost 15 years old now and still going strong. I know the day is coming but I dread it. I do absolutely anything to keep her alive and as healthy and as comfortable as possible, including taking her to the vets every three weeks for anti-arthritic injections. So my heart goes out to you and I hope the pain eases soon. Take care and know that we are all here for you.

Gentle hugs xx

It may be she is having mini strokes Gins. I would see the vet. I think they have meds for it. Lucky you, the oldest I have managed to get a dog to was 13. Have an 11 year old and a 6 month old Cockerpoo puppy now. He has brought us all to life especially my mini Schnauzer Mandy. She missed her litter sister so Max has been her saviour. Let us know how Jester is. X

Definitely take her to the vets - if only for peace of mind. Am thinking of you and your lovely faithful pooch.Hope she starts getting better real soon. xx

HI gins. Just asked my vet nurse daughter for you. She says definitely get your pooch checked by the vet. It might just be doggy dementia/senility but there might be another underlying cause. She says not to worry if it is just old age as there are meds that can help. Pat x

Hiya Gins this is a subject close to my heart as my 13 year old Patterdale has this problem had some tests done at the vets but all negative so dementia was diagnosed. I had read good things about a food supplement called Aktivat I got it off the Internet and after 4 weeks she has really improved. You just sprinkle it on their food. google it and read the reviews and see what you think,I would highly recommend it she has a new lease of life.xxx
