Hi there
I have been referred to Douglas grant rehab centre, what will happen at my appointment . Thanks Michelle
Hi Kilts,
That's in Irvine, isn't it?
If you put the name of the centre into your search bar, you will get a link to their website which is pretty informative. It also gives their phone number, so you could ring and ask what they will do for you.
I expect that once they have received your referral that they will send you some explanatory literature.
Best of luck with your appointment.

i go to see dr matteson at douglas grant rehab centre every 3 months, on my first visit we had an indepth consultation about my history, symptoms and medication then he examined me, felt around my neck, checked my balance etc, we discussed possible ways to move forward and he then said he would refer me on to Dr sinnak, she is a psychologist who helps patients with chronic illness cope with the illness , he stressed i wasnt seeing her for mental health reasons but to learn coping skills, he also refered me to the physiotherapist who works with me to help me to become reconditioned, and shows me how to do graded exercise slowly. he has also said that if needed he can refer to the occupational therapist, but i am seeing the community OT so didnt need this. if you want to contact me directly my email is [content removed by admin for reasons of online personal safety] hope this helps lorna
Hello there Kilts
Here is some info about the Douglas Grant Rehabilitation Centre, I hope you find this helpful. Please click on the link to access -
nhsaaa.net/services-index/d...
Here is some info from the site -
"The Douglas Grant Rehabilitation Centre is the first purpose-built unit in the West of Scotland to offer a specialist integrated rehabilitation service. The building has been carefully designed to provide the best equipment and facilities in a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere."
The objective of the centre is to help patients achieve their fullest physical, psychological and social potential."
This is a rough idea about what you would expect - Following your initial assessment by a consultant, you might be seen by a nurse, physiotherapist and occupational therapist. A personalised care plan would be put together and ongoing treatment and support provided. It would be something like that, after assessing and discussing your medical history, meds etc,
Wishing you all the best with your assessment.
