Anyone not like food? serious question.

I do not enjoy eating anything at the moment.

I have no true sense of smell due to an auto-immune disorder, steroids, and collapsed nasal bridge. this alters my taste.

I've still got my christmas choccies as I stopped eating them when I wasn't enjoying them.

I don't want to eat but have to have something when I have my many tablets twice a day.

it's hard to eat even a biscuit when it tastes of nothing or of something foul and smells worse.

I need a simple diet but am a loss as to what. I don't like cheese, yoghurt or mayonnaise or diet drinks.

anyone had similar?

any ideas?

sandra.

my stomach wants me to eat but threatens to throw up if I try to, sometimes even if I just look in the cupboard or fridge/freezer.

thats exactly how i am when in full flare Sandra , everything tastes and has the texture of cardboard . I have no appetite whatsoever either.

any food just goes straight thro my system too so hardly worth the bother of eating

maybe thats what has caused the anti inflammatories to damage my stumoch linning.

i don't like yoghurt either but i did have a thing for crispbreads with butter , not marge as i still had to be a little bit naughty

have you tried Omeprazole to help with tummy ? xx

Hi. I suffer with gerd and ge the sickness feeling regularly. Especially in the mornings when most of the time I vomit soon after waking. I also take lanzaprosole 30mg 2xday. I developed severe gastritis in June last year to the point that I couldn't even keepnwater down and the pain was indescribable. A burning gnawing pain made worse by anything in my stomach. I ended up at the hospital twice in 7 days and the second time, they prescribed motillium 10mg twice a day. It worked almost instantly and the awful constant nausea calmed down so much that what I did feel was a piece of cake compared to before. I still suffer with sickness and vomiting regularly but I am on motillium 10mg 3xday and that hold the worst of it at bay. It's also known as domperidone. You should always ask your drs advice but can buy those at the chemist.

I hope this helps. It's an awful feeling to have. As my gastritis calmed down it started to feel like my stomach was rumbling but it was so fierce it made, and still can make me vomit but it's definitely ot as bad as it used to be so I'm grateful lol. At least I can eat again, well some things anyway :-D

Happy New Year everyone. May 2013 bring the happiness, health and security we all deserve!!

Love and gentle huggles

thanks Chilli,

I was on motilium but had to come off it as I was bleeding in my stomach and severely anaemic.

I have frequent periods of losing my appetite, but get by with home made soup, milk, fruit juice and small helpings of buttered crackers.

If taking NSAIDS, you have to eat something, and these foods seem to be easy to get down for me, tho' I'm sure everyone will be different.

Personally, I can't bear the smell or sight of strong foods at the moment, tho' normally I love curry and stuff.

Oh well, it all helps keep the waistline trim!

Maybe try some scrambled egg as its light and easy to get down...soft wholemeal bread may also go well with it.

If you can't face food at all you may benefit from some complan drinks from the chemists.

Wow, I've just been talking to my husband saying I feel sick and don't fancy anything to eat, I've just cooked a meal of chicken and fresh vegetables but as soon as I started to dish them up my stomach just churned, this is starting to happen all the time, I could not pick out a favourite meal as nothing appeals to me.

This site is fantastic and offers great support, also I'm going to a support group on Monday.

Thanks everyone :)
