Yes -- it seems common that FM and reactive hypoglycaemia (RH) are closely associated. My mother-in-law (who has RH not related to fibro!) experiences similar symptoms to myself and both she and I find that by eating foods with LOW glycaemic index (eg oats, fruit, veg meat) this helps reduce the symptoms -- I also find by "eating little and often" and only small main meals -- healthy snacks every couple of hours is helpful. I posted a question on 16th nov 2012 asking "do you find hunger makes your symptoms worse?" which ties in with RH. There is quite a lot of info on FM and RH on the internet so maybe when you next visit your GP perhaps suggest that he looks at it or better still print off some of it and hand it to him to read. Whatever you do make sure that you don't "skip" meals and eat "regularly" -- which makes it difficult if you need to "starve" prior to an operation and when you are going out always take along some snacks with you. (eg fruit, nuts) XX

PS I think that this RH is part of the reason why us fibromites find it difficult to take part in strenuous exercise because we are battling to keep our sugar levels constant which is very hard to do when exercising. Therefore it seems that more "gentle" kinds of exercise (eg. walking, yoga) are most suitable. Does anyone else think this might be the reason why we find exercise so hard?

hi thank you both so much for your advice. i seem to get more help from you good people than i do from my doctor. I agree phlebo123 that RH makes it hard to exercise. I also think RH is why i struggle to lose weight. x

Forgive my ignorance...but have you had HbA1c done when you are experiencing these reactive hyperglycaemia times? What do you feel? Do you have low blood pressure with this?

in reply to littlefire

hi sorry but not sure wot HbA1c is? if you mean blood sugar levels then yes i brought a meter and test myself. blood sugar is normal. my blood pressure is borderline high so not low. I feel dizzy and faint can't concentrate or focus. hot sweats. have to eat until it goes away hence the weight problem. from my research i have found RH doesn't show up on normal diabetic tests. Doctor just thinks im off my trolley and tries to throw anti depressants at me. Im not mad and refuse to take them side effects are awful x

Now you see, this is precisely why this is such a great site. I have been hypo since 1994 and never knew that it and FM could be related.

Off to research - again - !

I LOVE this site :)

Now it seems that I may well have this then as been to doc and had the tests which show as normal but I often wake in night shaking as if cold but I am actually very hot and I am confused and dizzy. I also get this in the day but mainly evenings and night time.
