Does anyone have problems with hair snapping, unable to grow past a long bob and always loads falling out?
Sadly yes. not been able to grow it out for years. Used to be below my waist. Not found a solution yes Also find that my nails are very thin and weak to the point that the slightest pressure on them hurts, where they used to be very strong.
Hi yes my hair won't grow either and it falls out also I always thought it was related to medication I take.
Yes, I even have some bald patches.
My nails were also weak until I started taking loads of health supplements.
I don't take medication regularly as I have such severe side effects, so it isn't medicine.
Hi - noticed my hair is so brittle and my nails too. Apparently, Omega 3 helps. I noticed that my hair and nails are a real indicator as to how well my body is doing. I know a good diet of fresh and raw fruit and veg does improve the condition, but I sometimes find it all too hard to shop and prepare them and it goes to pot!! However, every little bit helps
I had a problem with this, my hair is fine so it was easily noticable, the hairdresser who picked it up thought I'd had a really short inverted bob at some time!
The real problem was working out the reason for it, I had not been diagnosed with fibro back then, so we put it down to the radiation treatment I had had for eye cancer.
I know that seems the most logical answer but the treatment was very short and localised, so when my GP diagnosed fibro a few months later, we put my hair problem down to that.
Four years later and it's improved, I use products that were/are designed for afro-carribiean, (sorry, my spelling is terrible), hair, which I am told breaks off naturally at a certian length when untreated.
I also have nail problems, they are very soft and my thumb nails inparticular split and peel from the nail bed. I've not found a solution to this but find that keeping my hands soft with almond oil and dialy rubbing in a comfrey ointment helps.
I'm very lazy when it comes to looking after myself, I've never really bothered with moisturiser etc, and had wondered if that's why, but obviously not!
Is it ok to say what 'brands' I use?
thats a great tip on the afro/carribean products i will try that . thanks my hair is so fine and i never get a style out of it no matter what i do. will let you know ifv any results..
aww i thought it was due to the dreaded illness, it seems everything is! why us funny enough my hair is curly extremely dry and frizzy and biffy just like afro hair and its always breaking and everytime i wash it theres clumps in shower. It falls out in bed and on my clothes. I had blood tests to check my thyroids but they were fine and nothing else explained it. Its very thin in sum places and its very fine i hate it
My hair is naturally curly but fine and i've been aware of it falling out for quite some time but thought it was due to the amitriptyline. However, I've been off amitriptyline since the end of May 2012 and have lost a stone since then. Apparently loosing a lot of weight quickly can make your hair fall out (I did the HCG diet) Anyway also being short of essential fatty acids can do it too so I'm taking 3 Omega 3 EPA and 3 Evening primrose oil capsules a day. A hormone imbalance can have the same effect as well though, as can thyroid problems as you say.
I find my hair snaps less with deep conditioning. I use a deep hair mask and it seems to repair and strengthen and also gives a nice shine.
