Been started on pregabalin since my o... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
Been started on pregabalin since my operation but now full body feels numb to touch is this a normal reaction?
Bless you, I wouldnt say so... Have you called your GP.. or had any medical practioner examine you since your operation? Do you have any other symptoms other than the numbness? Hugs xxx
From a personal experience ... I have had 10 ops since diagnosed with fibro. I find the operation line goes numb ... But all the surrounding area goes into hyper sensitive mode and can't bear anything touching the skin in a good 6 inch area around the site and the pain is unbearable that lasts about 6 weeks... Once healed.... Very slowly the cut area stays numb for good... My stomach looks iLife a road map with loads of numb patches... I would deffinately see your gp though cos that sounds a bit extreme... Is it your first op... Maybe that's the way your body deals with pain..... I know I am never believed that I could be in so much pain.. And my scars ... The last one 7 years old that one is still raised and purple.. Take me about 10 years for a scar to go to a white thin line, i am convinced my pain and weird healing is connected to fibro.
Good luck

i have an unlove for pregab but that dont sound right even with a hypersensitivity to the drug?
I am on Pregab, and experience the numbing effect all over, didn't realise it at first as it took about a week. I don't feel bad on it, I said to my Doc it takes away the "Ouch" factor, but I can still feel the pain and what's going on underneath it all. Again from a personal experience, I do find that surgery, jabs etc always feel 10 times worse now. However, I make a point of explaining this before anything is done, those in the know are usually very sympathetic. Those who don't, soon get an idea when they cause me pain!!
I have been on Pregab before and had a few side effects including numbness in legs. Dr took me off them.
I will go see my own doctor tomorrow, I explained these symptoms just when I realised and it which was about 4 days after being started on them, I was told I was being discharged I went to move and my legs were numb then I felt all over my body and the numbness was all over, I mentioned to the nurse and she spoke with Doctor and they were not concerned and still discharged me. I have an appointment at hospital on Wednesday to get stitches out and they are going to check my pain. I will be requesting to get checked over with an neurologist as I now know this is not normal as they have caused some nerve damage in my foot as it is constantly feeling as though it is on fire and no painkillers is touching it. I have had operations before and never experienced anything like this before it is a new symptom for me so I want a full check over to rule things out. I think they needed the bed as I was only meant to be in 1 day and spent 7 in due to the pain, which if it is the case I will argue that I should not have been discharged, with this numbness until they had done further tests. My lawyer is already discussing medical neglience with them due to the carry on with the treatment I received with my break in my fibula. I just want my life back and get back to some normality is driving me mad x Thanks all for your comments x
