ME TOO!!! It IS so embarrassing being like this in public, especiaally in ASDA when I am dripping all over the sodding conveyore belt! I get the strangest looks in winter, out in a vest top, when everyone else is dressed like an eskimo!!

I read a book once about human spontaneous combustion, and am sure that one of these days it will happen to ME :-)

Just wondering if you had ever had your thyroid checked out? I have low thyroid function and used to sweat like that but when I had my thyroid meds adjusted, this went away!

glad you asked my thyroid showed abnormal last year so the doc wanted to check it every 3 mths and when he did so it showed normal ????? then it was borderline i was told, still no further on, and still same frustrating daily symptoms, and the doc says its your fibro arrrgggg lol tc soma x

Ask if you can start on a low dose 25 say of thyroxine. It's cheap and I can't see any reason why you couldn't have a trial. My sister did! Christine x

Hello Soma,

It wasn't long ago that I was asking the same question and I felt as though I was melting.

I'd come off my HRT a few months previously after taking it for a number of years.

I didn't particularly want to get back on it because of the risks and my GP agreed so I went onto a safer drug which helped for a couple of months then hot flushes came back!

Every 10 minutes I was suffering from severe hot flushes which exhausted me and I couldn't cope. I am now back on Premarin HRT and so far after 6 months so good....

I think that fibro plays havoc with our hormones and so my comfort in being back on HRT outweighs the risks.

If you treat this problem similar to the menopause you will find help how to manage the flushes on the internet as not everyone agrees with HRT.

Try the natural remedies like soy milk and herbal remedies.

Hope you feel better soon and get to the bottom of this...it's bad enough having fibro without the meltdown

Hugs Ren Robin...xxx

hi renrobin, thankyou for your input, i am on hrt, mine isn't flushes its a permanent hot burning up which makes me more tired, i am dairy/ lactose free. it doesn't help as i have a kidney with reoccuring infections, had i removed age 21, also have a rare type of lyphoma [blood cancer] which was caused by infection. will give anything a try thankyou once again for your comments tc soma x

Hi, i have had the same thing for years, i wake up in the night wet through and my pillow is always wet, it drives me insane, i dont put any make up on anymore because my face sweats so much, its really embarrasing. Even when i feel hot my skin feels cold and clammy.

I totally empathise with you all, but i cant find anything that helps, have tried sage but no difference, i have ceiling fans in lounge and bedroom etc, my doc just says its the fibro. Im also 45 so may be having hormonal changes which wont help.

Apparently the fibro interferes with our bodys ability to control temperature,

It also causes me a sore groin and sore under my breasts where i sweat and i have to use steroid and anti fungal creams, does anyone else have the same thing ?

I even wear t shirts and vests in winter im soooo Hot lol, got to laugh about it or id be a misery all the time!

Hugs to you all x Amanda

I have the complete oposite, I am burning hot but have goose pimples and shivery usually when I get into bed. I get hot flushes but that is the menopause but hate the shivering when I am not cold.

I'm definitely the same - I've taken to carrying a desk fan with me from place to place at work, as I'm always sweating and overheating, although my skin temperature generally feels fairly normal. I rarely wear a jacket or anything, even in the rain, as it just makes me sweat more, and when I'm away from the fan at work, I can feel the sweat dripping down my forehead! YUCK! :(

I've also stopped wearing foundation etc., as it was just smudging and forming tide-marks, no matter how little I put on. But at least my makeup routine is faster in the mornings now! A good thing, as it takes me even longer to get going than it used to! ;)
