did they say why they refused a home visit?
I didn't think they could refuse a home visit if your GP sent them a fax or letter . I'm agoraphobic and certainly won't be attending their assessment centre whether they like it or not.
I fond it worrying that they are now refusing to carry out home visits, and I'm in Hampshire too.
im not a happy bunny now as i just slipped another disc
I'm certain they do this so that they can say if you can get there you can go to work! Make sure you get someone to take you and support you through the process, to act as your advocate and to tell them when you're too tired to carry on.
They'll certainly make assumptions about how you get there - their so-called reports seem to thrive on assumption making!
I know when they sent the appointment letter to my husband they sent directions on how to get from our house to the assessment centre (something like walk for 7 min to bus stop, get bus, change to another bus & walk for another 10 mins) saying it would take an hour in total for car journey which took about 15 minutes door to door! If he'd followed those instructions he'd have failed as soon as he crawled through the door of the centre!
Make sure that they know how tired you are when you get there and remember to emphasise to them that it will take you several days to get over the exertion of getting there and back home again. Don't get dressed up and don't wear make up because they'll only use all that against you too. Please make sure you have someone with you to take notes/ act as a witness for you.
It's too short notice for ziggyinhants to ask DWP/ATOS to have her one recorded but I'd certainly advise anyone going for assessment to put in a request to have it done.
good luck with your assessment, Ziggy. mine has been postponed 3 times so far lol.
sorry to hear your news Ziggy. you're not having a good week, are you. hope that eases for you soon x.
I wrenched my back earlier this week after my feet went out from under me on the slippery front doorstep. the bruises are coming out now but at least I'm the walking wounded, with the help of extra meds.
helen, good luck with getting a home assessment x
