pain managment
You sit in a room and get asked lots of questions, you fill a form in before you go inthe room,
They will tell you usually if can help or not, in my case could not heps as in too many places but did say if did not need op then would try do a cervical injection in my neck and hope it radiates, so i would also like to talk to anyone whos had a cervical one done and i when bad want in my hands and feet but am managing its my neck hands and feet, not sure which is worst prob neck have to keep lying down to take strain off holding head up and that went feb 11 .. Still bad xxx
Hope that helps and all the best but be firm you want it doing because you will walk out that room and then too late so think priority the worst area! Xxx
I went to pain management clinic nearly 12 months ago.. I was asked where my pain was unbearable .... Neck and shoulders and they said I was a good candidate for trigger point injections I have 5 injections every 3 months approx they are such a relief I can feel my neck unknotting literally 15 mins after injections.
I have been refered to a pain management course. So far I have had my meds reviewed to help with sleep, given gentle exercises to do and been given some reading. The course itself involves gentle physio, cognitive therapy, meditation and Pilates as well as other stuff to help us cope with every day life. I have only done the introductory bit so far, the main part of the course starts after Christmas and is run by a doctor, physio and therapist. I am really looking forward to it! Hope that helps and good luck with yours. Jane x
I went to the Pain clinic and to be honest it changed my life. They gave me medication which helped also various treatments one of which was acupuncture which really worked but there is always a but isnt there. I had the acupuncture for about 6 months and was coping with life however back to the money. The funding was taken away and my treatment stopped. I went privately but after a while I could n't afford it, The maddening thing is it is still available but depending where you live. Post code lottery I guess. Well good luck.
Take care
Bye for now A xxx
i waited 3 weeks for a appointment, which was based at my drs, was asked where hurt most, told its uncurable and all he could do was to try to ease the pain abit, went on about the migraines i was having and sugested ocitipal nerve injections if meds didnt help, gave me pregabalin and a review in 2 months, hope you get appointment soon x
hi you wanted to no what they do at the pain management. ill try and help if i can. firstly you get your letter asking to go for an assesment, when you get there you will see 3 people 1 doctor 1 phisio 1 phyciatrist. you will see each seperatly to discuss you case. they will decide if pain clinic will help you. in my case i was told it would not be bennificial to me as i cant get up off the floor unaided, as it can involve gentle floor excercises, plus the phisio said they only help with muscles and bones, i have severe nurve damage so it wouldnt help me, not sure if all pain clinics do it the same as mine but just a pointer take care hope this helps
pain management for me was the best place i was ever sent,i get spinal injections every 3 months which do give a lot of relief from the usual pain,my doctor also had a review of my meds and adjusted them to a higher level.give it a go it is well worth the visit.
thank you every one x
