Hi Larissa,
I had 2 steroid injections a few weeks ago, for my arthritis, unfortunately they didn't work for me as my joints are still badly swollen and inflamed, but everyone is different and what doesn't help one person may benefit another.
The doctor at rheumatology department at hospital gave them to me. I have to go back again at the end of this month.
I would speak to your GP and he/she should refer you to rheumatology department.
Good Luck, and best wishes to you

Hi Larissa,
Steroid injections don't work for everyone, but when they do work the results can be really good - as Bonnielass rightly said, it all depends on the individual.
I had one recently and it worked amazingly well. I'm sure your GP will advise you if it would be a suitable treatment for you.
Best Wishes .... Moffy
Hi Larissa,
I had a steroid injection in my shoulder last year, it really helped not only the pain in my shoulder but also the pain in my neck from a whiplash injury from a car accident back in 2007, the effects started to wear off after about 4 and a half months but unfortunately I had some weird side effects so I'm not allowed any more injections. But the relief from the constant pain in that area was wonderful while it lasted. Well worth talking to your GP.

Hi Larissa,
Please make sure that you get the injection by someone who knows what they're doing.
I had mine done by a very nice locum GP in my hip ( Bursitus ) and it was so painful. even three days after. Didn't put it right either,
Try to get it done in hospital if you can...xxx
Hi there,i had stetoid injections for a frozen shoulder years ago,i had been. in agony for a year and a half,i tried everything ,in the end i was given steroid injections Brilliant! What a relief and all these years later,no problems.I also have had them in my wrists amd hips, they have always been really good, they last ones in my hips didn't last as long but they did give me some much needed relief.Good luck,Sandy.
hi i have had steroid injections in my hip joints which meant no weight bearing for 24 hours but they did help a lot, my GP told me only my consultant could give them
Hi years ago I had one in my shoulder and tho it was very painfull after a day or so it worked and has never bothered me again. This time the Orthopedic surgion said I needed one in my knee ,and I did not want it as I remembered the pain of the last one, however he talked me round and the nurse said you can pinch my hand if it helps. Gritted my teeth and had it done in my knee and now i can walk a little better and the pain is gone ( Oh such a relief ) so I would say see if you can have one. But like the others say make sure it is done by someone who knows what they are doing and be prepared for the pain. It does outway the releif you get and I for one will grit my teeth and have another one when this wears off.
Good luck ...gentle hugs
