Hi from Nurse Gladys Emanuel (open all hours) before agreeing to steroids consult your rheumatologist, steroid alter the texture of your blood and the flow of. If you have already had heart scares then air on caution first. If they agree to this (which might be after blood tests) I would say YES to you steroid injections are a quick fix for pain in fibro and other arthritic pain, mine was given in big muscle so that it circulated, when the injection is placed in a joint it treats that area only. Hope this helps you.

Sorry you had problems with Cymbalta. I was the same it felt as though I had an elephant sitting on my chest and strange sensations couldn't get off it quick enough.

I did have a steroid injection in my hip and for 6 months it really took the edge off and even for another 6 months the pain wasn't so severe. Opinion seems to be a bit divided on them some say it is fine to keep on having them if it is successful others say in the end if too many are given it starts to have a negative effect.

As Hidden days do take advice as to suitability but certainly worth trying one if you are in tremendous pain. Good luck with whatever you decide.x

Hi Hopey

I am so genuinely sorry to read this my friend and I sincerely hope that you can find some resolution to this issue. I agree completely with both Hidden and rosewine as I take oral steroids on a daily basis for COPD and the side effects that I suffer are horrendous. I also have a heart condition and this has to be monitored and medicated as well.

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck with this and as the others have said please take advise on this issue my friend. Please take care of yourself.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Thankyou everyone for the info and possitive thoughts i will definately look thoughly into it before agreeing to injections the gp i go to is in his 30s and is keen to help in any way possible and seems to have a good knowledge of fibro my rhuematolist appoint will not be untill at least sept/oct which will be 9 months since i have had an appointment so i may have to discuss things with my gp to be honest the 30 mg of cymbalta is maybe helping but if not able to take it up to the 60 mg because of bad reaction it might be better to get off it all together i have tried just about everthing else with either no relief or bad side effects so i will definately be stepping causiously before taking anything else 😄😄 thankyou again for the feedback

I have tried all the different meds for fibro nothing seemed to work or had some sort of reaction to the medication have been given methlpredisolone injections 6 weeks apart and noticed withthe fist one 80mg i could go up stairs without doing the two step i havent been able to do that for years able to lift my arms above my head with out pain hips not hurting as much and stiffness improved imensely doctor uped the dose to 120 mg but dont think it has made anymore diffence than the original dose so if i have another will probably just leave it at the 80 mg, rhuemy says doesnt work for fibro so i figure whatever is causing these issues are obviously not fibro but has something to do with the CTD atm am taking nothing for fibro as rhuemy has said we will see how you are in 6 months so we will look at med options then so looks like i just have to put up with muscle aches and pains till then my gp was not happy so suggested the injections minimum of 6 weekly intervals when necessary and have also a couple of months ago been diagonised with AF so something else to add to the list 😎
