Ohh poor you - me too!

Good luck with it - if you are finding the diet alone route too difficult (let's face it most people do) there are a range of very good drugs out there to help us.

Are you going to have to do the daily blood tests? If not push for them because it puts you through a pretty steep learning curve on what your body can and can not cope with eg tomatoes send some peoples sugar sky high and yet have no effect on others. The 3 monthly test won't let you learn about your bodies own little quirks.

Got my BS into single figures the last few months so feeling quite proud of myself!

Hi there ,hopefully things won't be to bad,my mother-in-law has had type2 diabetes for years ,she is 4 stones over weight bless her ,she has no meds at a,no blood. sugar monitoring at home needed for her.she has a blood test twice s year at her docs and it had always been ok.

Her mum was type 2 diabetic with no meds and no problems really ,my husband was told his blood sugsrs were through the roof, his doc told him to go home est a health diet and come back in a month for another blood test which he did ,well when he went back his bloods were fine,no longer did his doc think he esd type 2 diabetic.

If you can go the diet route ,give it s good try, saves you the hassle of more tablets.

Take care,Sandy.

Hi Sammy, I was diagnosed as type 2 last June. After a month I went onto medication, (tablets), can't say it's been easy, but really not bad. The hardest thing is trying to lose weight when exercise is a problem. I have a 6 month old puppy, and tried walking her every day, and a little further every day to try to build on it, but it's not working, I was getting worse and worse pain wise, so I've had to cut back.

As for daily testing, I hope you have more luck than myself. A lot of GP's don't advocate daily testing for type 2, well they wouldn't would they, because it would cost more prescribing the machines and test strips on the NHS, my surgery will not prescribe them, I bought my own, the machines aren't too expensive, however the strips aren't cheap. But I did test quite a lot initially to learn what I could and couldn't eat without sending my sugar too high. Last year my BS was 7.1, now down to 5.9, cholesterol really low, but I am a lot over weight.

Yes you need to take care Sammy, it's not something to be taken lightly, but it's not the end of the world.

I was on the edge of being Diabetic. Blood Glucose Level came bac as 9.8 I started taking a Multi vitamin that had Cinnamon in it called Lamberts Multi Guard Congrol and has brought my scores down to 6 something. Apparently cinnamon helps to control blood sugar levels. This was recommended to me and it certainly has helped as well as having a healthier diet, although at times I am no angel and will have sweet stuff. If I start coming out in boils or keep getting thrush I know I have to cut down on sugar stuff, including fruit. Good Luck.
