Hi, did you rub the nettle stings with docking leaves? the leaves work really well with nettle stings. Just out of interest how did you get stung on your hands and arm??????? Or are we better not knowing!!!!!! lol

Try Aloe Vera, either straight from the plant or the gel. It really helps and cools the effected parts.

Hope you get some comfort, it is a horrid feeling.

Love and hugs

they used to use nettles to help with arthrutus to hit people with and hope it helped OUCH

If your thinking of the antihitamine please speach to your phamasist just in case but aloe is ace ..

gentle dyslexic hugs

Calamine Lotion/cream always worked best when my children had nettle rash. They are all safer and can be used without the need for consulting either a Pharmacist or your GP.

Calamine Lotions and creams also contain the active ingredient zinc oxide, which has antiseptic properties that help prevent infection from scratching.

Aloe Vera is supposed to have moisturising, soothing and healing properties, so that may be useful too.

Before taking any tablets whether antihistamine or pain relief, please check with your GP/Pharmacist that these are suitable bearing in mind your other meds.

Ouch - I hate nettle stings! You could try mixing baking soda and a little water into a paste - dab gently onto the affected area with a soft cloth (do not rub as this will irritate it further). Let the mixture dry and it should bring relief. Another way is to dab some white vinegar (spirit vinegar) on with a soft cloth and again let it dry on. Hope it stops stinging soon :) x

I was going to say dock leaves too.

I stung myself a few weeks ago and my daughter had some bite and sting wipes and they worked like magic.

My husband's "party trick" involves stinging nettles. He picks them & immediately scrunches them up til the juice runs out. He then rubs that over his hands & swears there is no pain! I have never been brave (or stupid?) enough to try it! Not sure if it's a case of "no sense, no feeling"!!!

I had this verse written in my autograph book as a child .....

Tender hearted stroke a nettle

& it stings you for your pains

Clasp it like a man of metal

& it soft as silk remains!

So maybe my hubby is right after all!

Anyone brave enough to try?!!! xx
