I go through phases with this & it can happen at any time of day or night usually when I'm on my recliner & my legs feel as though they've been plugged in to the mains. Sometimes it only happens once or twice and at other times it just seems to go on non-stop with the leg jerks - that's when the fluffy words start coming out cos it gets so annoying.

I've also had it in my arms, happened once when my young son was sitting beside me and as my arm jerked upwards I smacked him in the face - don't know which one of us was the more upset.

The one I get that is the worst of all is when my whole body feels as though it's been wired to the mains and I quite literally clear the chair or bed by about an inch or so - usually happens as I'm just about to fall asleep, frightens the blooming life out of me!

I also get horrendous leg cramps from thigh to toes & there's times it's so bad I think my knee cap is going to snap in two. My GP suggested drinking a glass or two of Tonic Water a day to see if that helped and she also gave me some Quinine tablets to take if the Tonic Water didn't work. I hate the taste of the plain stuff but the lime flavoured isn't too bad and it has reduced the number & severity of the cramps.

Yes, i get Restless Leg Syndrome and it's really unpleasant. my husband does as well and we are not able to sleep in the same bed because of this. I am such a light sleeper anyway and him twitching and kicking was impossible to deal with. He is worse if he's drunk a lot of coffee. Mine is when I've been walking a short way and i'm tired. Just one more miserable symptom of this rotten syndrome !! )

Hi Paul,

haha, like the one about the port....my "medicine is a couple or thereabouts of beers and glasses of wine, settles me down if nothing else....but it's the wretched headaches in the morning that get me lol!!!!

On a more serious note re the restless legs, (also get the odd whole body jump...creepy) my doc put me on Robaxin aka Methocarbamol, white capsule shaped tablets. Couple at night work a treat for me. sometimes need them in the day if thing go a bit mad....usually if i have a catchup nap in the afternoon.

I always think it's like being wound up like an old clockwork toy...then whoosh....legs go off on one.

hope you get something to help.

On a recent post of yours, appeal appeal appeal, you've got nothing to lose, every appeal that is put in is just another proof that they are doing these things so wrong...lies and some.

I had a medical in june 2010, report was a complete work of fiction, the "doctor" watched me crawl across the floor and try to get up with the help of a chair, i was in tears of pain and humiliation, had extremely painful knees and ankles and my right elbow was swollen trapping the nerves to my hand so i couldn't put any weight bearing on anything. The doctor just looked at me and said "on can't you get up i should have helped you", yet scored me nil on can get up off the floor unaided. That in itself is a humiliating experience!!!

I complained against the doctor, heard nothing and to my regret did nothing else as i was sooo exhausted and ground down with post viral fatigue due to glandular fever. Eventually won on appeal in July 2011...just had another damn medical, do they really think things will have improved 9 months??

so please continue with your appeal and complaint and keep us posted.

Sorry for rant,

take care

🥵 it’s all just so wrong! Mainly because it’s invisible to everyone including most medical professionals! If you had a physically visible disability you’d be taken more seriously 😒

Hi Paul

I too get the leg jerks, but i also get it in other places now. Arms, neck, full body, had one so violent once that I pulled my stomach muscles. The worst thing now is I've started to get them during the day!!!!

My right arm has a tendancy to have a life of its own during the night, my partner gets whacked quite a few times. Its amazing that he has not had a black eye yet!!!!!

gentle hugs xx
