For anyone who has been lucky enough to be granted DLA recently, is it still backdated to the date you claim? Seem to think I've heard it isn't now.

DLA backdated?
yes it is . I avnt heard from them yet and its 2 months xx
Hi, yes the DLA is backdated to the first application date even if you don't agree with the original findings and appeal. I applied and got given the lower rate, however I didn't feel they had read my application so I appealed. When I appealed I made sure that I referred to my original application and sent copies of my answers where I didn't think they had taken it into consideration and was lucky enough to be given the higher level and that meant I could have a Carer and they can be paid.
Mm, seems it's a little more complicated, I was asking for my daughter. Her benefits were stopped, they sent her a letter to fill in asking if there'd been any changes in her circumstances, she never got that letter, so therefore didn't get it back in time, and they stopped all her benefits. She knew nothing of this until of course she didn't get paid! It's took almost 8 weeks for them to decide that she still qualify's for the higher rate of care and mobility, however they say because it was suspended under investigation she isn't entitled to backpay. Now she has her income support reinstated, but said they found out they paid her a week too much, so have to take that back at a rate of £15 a week, and that is paid 2 weeks in arrears, no backpay again, as she wasn't entitled to that until she got DLA back again. So she's been 8 weeks without any money, and NO backpay to get her bills etc sorted!
