Anyone have piercings and consider that they may be contributing to their pain? I had pierced ears but too painful to wear earrings. I still have a nose stud, but am increasingly wondering if there is a link between that and the myofac pain I have on that side... No pain around the piercing site which is several years old and healed without complications.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

Hello there Spirit, an interesting post, thank you! :)

I have often wondered the same myself. I have had a few piercings over the years and wondered if the titanium in some of the fittings have contributed to my condition or pain. I haven't seen any documentary proof of this so I cannot comment on anything specifically. Needless to say I removed all of my piercings three years ago when I was diagnosed and now just wear stud earrings (one pair!) which I personally feel is fine. It would be interesting to hear others' views on this subject, thanks again! :)

I think personally speaking Spirit, if you are in any doubt about your nose stud, it might be worth a mention to your GP. If you are experiencing any pain in your face, particularly on the side of the nose piercing, I personally would remove it. It's just not worth the pain or worry. Just to be sure, ask your GP and could you report back as I am sure this will affect others with piercings too. Thank you! :)
