Hi there. Yes my right shoulder is unbearable at times and I really struggle to dress and put coats on and off. I had it xrayed about a week ago and there is nothing wrong just good old fibro. Like the others heat is good but I fing pain killers (prescribed strength) don't touch it. I just have to be really careful how I move it .

Hugs xxxxxx

Hi, I'm brand new here and I am having shoulder pain just as you are describing. My first bout started in the spring of 2014 with my right shoulder. It lasted for about 8 months. Within a week or two it moved to my left shoulder. The pain is excruciating. Dressing and undressing are sometimes almost impossible, and has even limited what clothes I can wear in my closet. Also washing my hair and my back hurt sp much i can hardly bear it, and now I have to use my right arm to put the seatbelt on in the car. The shooting pains leave me breathless at times.

Is there anyone out there that has experienced this and what are the best treatments? Thank you for reading my post.

yes my neck shoulders arms ,cant lift my arms up to comb my hair some days ,i use a wheaty or heat pads xxx

It's mostly neck pain for me as opposed to shoulder pain. It can get incredibly painful especially at night time which is so frustrating when I'm trying to sleep! I take two co-codamol if it's really bad and after an hour or so it settles down enough for me to sleep. Gosh we do suffer don't we! I find a hot water bottle invaluable, having it just warm enough to be comfy on the back of my neck. Very soothing. :)

Most of my pain is in my neck, shoulders and top part of my back .. I use emu oil, hot blanket on my bed, wheat wrap, painkillers (Dihydrocodeine/Solpadol) :) xx

Yes I do too. That is my main pain area. I was prescribed Votarol which I rub in my neck and shoulders, and top of arms. I also use Solpadol. One thing I do is have the shower on as hot as I can bare it, and concentrate on that area. Hope this helps x

Another thought. Get a tennis ball and put it between your shoulders and a flat wall, and rotate it round and round. This was a tip giving to me at my Pilates class. Its called self massage, and it loosens them.

Has it been checked out by a doctor? Having Fibro doesn't mean we can't get anything else, so it's worth getting checked out.

Fibro itself (which is a central processing disorder) is also not going to cause localised predictable pain, but in people with Fibro this is often caused by myofascial pain. This goes alongside Fibro, but is actually a different diagnosis and requires slightly different treatment. It is very very common with myofascial pain to be badly affected in the neck & shoulder region and this can then lead to arm pain, numbness, weakness and tingling, headaches and migraines, nausea and possibly a perpetuating of your Fibro if you might have Positional Cervical Cord Compression (PC3). Treating myofascial pain can involve physio, specialist massage, injections, stretches and muscle relaxants.

hi i have been tio, pain clinics and physio about my pain i have been having they did suggest at one poit having steriod injections in my shoulders but then they realised i had fibro so they decided not o do it as it would nt do any good so it back to the pain patches and tablets lol but go to your gp he may mention few things that may help you but my gp is fantastic she has done alot of research into fibro which is helpful and she evn says most of the pain i get is unfortunately down to firo we are just trying to get the meds right for me so go see ya gp and have a good old chat and write everything down too if your like me i forget the main thing i wanted to ask love to you and good luck with it and fibro is such a delight lol l love diddle x

forgot to say i have had massage treatment too but that didnt work (for me) i felt worse the next day and even after a few days it didnt do anything but again thats a personal thing my sister done the massage so i was totally relaxed and she is a fully trained massaure and well aware of the bodies muscle tone and areas etc so she knows her stuff but again you may get so much from it

she also manipulated my shoulder area i a proper way but nothing works lol i am a lost causet it seems to me and all the roffessional i have seen are all in the same mind that all of it in my case is definately fibro but you must try every avenue this is purely my own case love diddle x

I do, also have pain into my collarbones too.It makes it difficult to sleep because I can't sleep on my back because of the pain in it, and then when I sleep on my side,it makes my shoulders and collarbones even worse:(

I do every now and then...one of what I call my random pains...that it, it seems to have come from no where! I'll be in agony for a month, then it disappears again. At the minute I'm ok though.

Hope you're feeling better soon.
