Like any other medication it’s what suits you and you need. Talking to the right doctor and taking it at home in the day with people around is a good idea the first times. I take it, slow release and top up oromorph and without it I’d have had to go to hospital last night. Saying that, I had a horrible reaction to duloxatine & amatriptyline so it is getting the right drug for you with medical discussions and support. Hope who ever needed to see this does

My experience with Morphine has been very difficult. I was on Oramorph when my last GP also put me on Zomorph x 4 tablets per day. This resulted in terrible constipation and finished with me being hospitalised and having to endure Enema’s and Catheter’s.

On the advice of my new GP I’ve stopped taking Oramorph and have cut down on the Zomorph.

I’d prefer to put up with the pain than have to endure the side effects of morphine.

Kind regards

David

I have been taking morphine tablets and oramorph, along with pregabalin for chronic pain.

I see others describe their side-effects, which appear to be mostly negative. Yes, I’ve had similar side-effects too, BUT… they pass after a few weeks and then comes the relief. The body adjusts and adapts to the chemicals in the morphine.

Eat plenty of foods that help your bowel not to become constipated? Probiotics, live yoghurt and vegetables helped me!

I never get constipated now. But over time, the amount of morphine I need has increased, so now I’m completely addicted to the drug. However, I don’t have any problems in living a mostly normal lifestyle… depending on how I’m feeling! I have a complex medical condition, not helped by having survived sepsis, which has had a detrimental effect on me physically.

Anyway, we’re all different and I’m no doctor, so I wish you well in your journey! Ignore us all, or not!!

Decide for yourself and don’t let the initial thoughts and feelings prevent you from getting the relief you need and deserve!

Cheers 🍻
