I've had acupuncture for fibromyalgia, didn't make any difference sadly.
Hi JoA143, I had acupuncture from the hospital only a six week trial, about 12 years ago, for my fibro, had now for 18 years. It really helped and they knew where to put the needles, I tried one after that, from someone else but was too expensive and they didn't know where to put the needles to help. I would say if can afford it, I would try it to see if it helps and you like it, the only thing that helped with me was that at the time, and private injections in back and neck, which again couldn't afford after and my GP wouldn't do them as said causes arthritis. Take care hope find something that helps for you. x
sadly no help with fibro. , but I do use a very gentle McTimoney trained chiropractor every 6-8 weeks to maintain / loosen up my spine inc.neck, shoulders, hips, ribs!
I had some NHS acupuncture for specific condition which made little difference. I had traditional Chinese "holistic" acupuncture that helped but was expensive.Helped with gut issues.whole body approach suits me as I express stress physically not emotionally. Take care of you. Gigi
I'm from Ireland but I get acupuncture occasionally, I do find it really helps as I suffer very bad from joint pain. After a few days I am in less pain but it's always there 😔 definitely certian foods I've to stay away from as they trigger the pain... I suppose all you can do it try it and see if it helps. Some people it helps, I am one of them. It's so relaxing too and the needles get the circulation moving to reduce pain. Where I go it's €50 per session. Quite expensive but I find it worth it. Hope you get some relief ❤️
The 6 sessions of NHS acupuncture unfortunately didn't help. I did have quite a fee sessions with an acupuncturist who used the Chinese method that has a more overall body centred approach. This did help bring thr pain down slightly and I did notice it helped with thr fatigue. He was very knowledgeable about diet and pacing and this helped with my IBS which many if us suffer with. Like all treatments what suits one doesn't suit another certainly worth trying.
Yes, I have and it also greatly helps with my autoimmune condition and pain with my hyper mobility syndrome. I go to a clinic in Exeter which is fairly near to you. If you are interested I could pm you the contact details and other info😊
Yes! After fifteen or so years, acupuncture with my current therapist has been keeping me going by dealing with all the little things that would pull me down. There are seven pulses or more in the wrist and other places which a properly Chinese trained acupuncturist can read for different states of energy. Then they give the treatment that is most appropriate to re-balance that energy.... Works for me as I do not mind needles and prefer to feel something to know that something is happening. I respect the Chinese wisdom greatly as it is many thousands of years old, tried and tested and still strictly taught.
I may say, that during the time of Covid, I missed my treatments greatly as I could not accept the jab science. We lived in near isolation and it seemed daft to take the risk of upsetting my health more. Same goes for flu jabs too.
I still get symptoms and the fatigue and brainfog has been hard to deal with too while hubs has been waiting for further hospital treatment to remove painful stents. Have also just lost my sister to dementia and the few visits I made have been excessively fatiguing, but I fully expect the acupuncture to sort that out. - Maybe it will take three sessions two weeks apart, rather than the usual month apart. Chiropractic once a month adds to to the therapeutic effect and I think, each kind of treatment can influence the other positively.
I have great trust and friendship with both of my therapists. Trust is everything in the final analysis and perhaps it is that, that makes all the difference. Hope this helps.
PS to my last comment. Ask at places like your local health food shop for refs others have given, or there are acupuncture associations with registers. Go for Chinese/five elements etc and ask about traditional needling techniques being taught.
Thank you so much everyone for your comments and the time you've spent typing such detailed responses. I shall look into it further. One thing I have found really helps is oxygen therapy at the ms centre in Exeter.
I use a tsubo to find and treat pain points,I also went on the Haye diet which made a big difference in time {googie Haye diet} no quick fix i'm afraid.
